Mientras que el noble hidalgo, con la mente trastornadas por heroicas ficciones, abraza los \u00e1ridos parajes manchegos, las obras expuestas traen a la mente del espectador horizontes igualmente amplios, un paisaje de poderosa luz y sombra, de color profundamente intenso y luminoso, pero expandido con una impl\u00edcita presencia del mar.<\/p>\n<p>Al igual que el creador del Quijote, Elpis Georgiadis trae a su arte su personal experiencia de la emigraci\u00f3n y la distancia, y las emociones que la acompa\u00f1an: el descubrimiento y la nostalgia. Nacida en Lesbos, se cri\u00f3 y educ\u00f3 entre Nueva York y Grecia. Ya adulta, vivi\u00f3 en Roma y en la actualidad reside en Atenas, y su obra se mueve con facilidad a trav\u00e9s de los m\u00faltiples paisajes, reales e imaginarios, de Cervantes.<\/p>\n<p>Es sobre todo el sentido de movimiento de estas pinturas, y de duda alucinatoria sobre los l\u00edmites de lo real y lo imaginado, lo que recuerda a los tropos distintivos del arte cl\u00e1sico castellano. La acci\u00f3n tiene lugar en los mismos espacios interiores y hablan un lenguaje visual parecido, que da cabida tanto a la melancol\u00eda como a la alegr\u00eda, a la soledad y al compromiso, con formas org\u00e1nicas \u2013semillas, flores, olas, viento, tierra, sangre, piedra\u2013 que pueden ser tambi\u00e9n consideradas en la estela de la pintura espa\u00f1ola, desde El Greco (sorprendentemente apropiado en este caso) hasta Joan Mir\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Las obras son deliberadamente de peque\u00f1o formato, pues invitan al espectador a acercarse para apreciar el detalle de su precisa factura, si bien nunca completamente controlada, medium running con la trama del papel. Pueden tambi\u00e9n ser contempladas a media distancia, como familias o secuencias de im\u00e1genes unidas tanto por los tonos y la luminosidad como por la disposici\u00f3n f\u00edsica de las obras. Esta presentaci\u00f3n colectiva refuerza el sentido individual que invocan, desde formas femeninas sorprendidas en el momento de la creaci\u00f3n de nueva vida, hasta el romper explosivo de las olas y el poder salvaje de la naturaleza en movimiento, rebosante de matices de azules, amarillos y rojos primarios.<\/p>\n<p>En su mayor\u00eda, estas pinturas rebosan vida y energ\u00eda. La excepci\u00f3n es un conjunto de obras m\u00e1s meditativas, inquietantes incluso (Tinta\/papel 1991-92), las cuales aunque no abandonan la abstracci\u00f3n son tambi\u00e9n poderosamente figurativas. Se trata principalmente de tintas en negro y un rojo tel\u00farico, oscuro \u2013el rojo de la sangre seca o de la luz que se filtra apenas a trav\u00e9s de un rub\u00ed en bruto\u2013, y son piezas m\u00e1s contundentes, m\u00e1s sosegadas y contemplativas.
