Por su parte, y representando a Ingenieros sin Fronteras, <strong>Farnoud Datlibagi<\/strong>\u00a0hablar\u00e1 de la instalaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda solar en la Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo que ayudar\u00e1 a los chicos\u00a0en edad escolar. Y finalmente, <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Varela<\/strong>, de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea (<strong>DG DEVCO<\/strong>) explicar\u00e1 los proyectos que est\u00e1n llevando a cabo en los pa\u00edses en v\u00edas de desarrollo.<\/p>\n<p>La actividad ser\u00e1 en ingl\u00e9s. Exposici\u00f3n<\/strong><br \/>\nColaboran CEBE\/SSBE (Cient\u00edficos Espa\u00f1oles en B\u00c9lgica\/Spanish Scientists in BElgium)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\">The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that roughly 1.1 billion people in the world still live without access to electricity, more than 95% of these people are either in sub-Saharan Africa or developing Asia. The sun is a huge source of energy and if we could capture and store just a small part of this power, there would be no need for other sources of energy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #333399\">Instituto Cervantes and CEBE (Spanish Scientists in Belgium) organize a round table to discuss the potential of solar energy. We will host a set of panelists who will give us an insight on the matter from an artistic, social and scientific point of view.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #333399\">Thanks to Rub\u00e9n Salgado Escudero\u2019s photography project on solar panels in developing countries\u2013 which will be part of the first photo festival Brassage Photographique in Villers- we will be able to understand better the conditions in which the inhabitants of remote areas live and how their lives have improved as a result of having access to electricity through the power of solar energy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #333399\">Photovoltaic cells are devices that convert the energy of light directly into electricity. Maxime Defour \u2013 who does a PhD on this subject at VUB- will introduce the state-of-the-art for low-cost solar cells such as organic solar cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\">To illustrate a direct application of this technology to society, Farnoud Datlibagi will share with us an ongoing project of \u201cIng\u00e9nieurs Sans Fronti\u00e8res\u201d: an off-grid solar system that will be installed soon in a school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo allowing more kids to receive a scholar education.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #333399\">To close the event, Miguel \u00c1ngel Varela, Policy Officer at the Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Unit of the European Commission (DG DEVCO) will talk about other projects in developing countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\">RSVP: <a style=\"color: #333399\" href=\"https:\/\/solar-energy-empowering-people.eventbrite.es\" target=\"_blank\">Evenbrite<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a1No te pierdas este interesante coloquio!
