Nuestro autor del mes de abril es el gran poeta Jos\u00e9 Hierro (Madrid 1922-2002). Recientemente se han cumplido diez a\u00f1os de su fallecimiento as\u00ed que aprovechamos esta efem\u00e9ride para rendirle homenaje en nuestra biblioteca.\u00a0Su obra, a la vez intimista y testimonial, es apreciada como uno de los valores m\u00e1s destacados de la poes\u00eda espa\u00f1ola del siglo XX. Cuando a\u00fan era muy joven, su familia se traslad\u00f3 a Santander. Sus versos de juventud aparecieron en diversos medios afines al frente republicano y acabada la contienda civil sufri\u00f3 cuatro a\u00f1os de c\u00e1rcel debido a sus actividades clandestinas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Estas experiencias marcaron su trayectoria vital y tuvieron fiel reflejo en su producci\u00f3n po\u00e9tica. Forma parte de la llamada \u201cGeneraci\u00f3n del medio siglo\u201d, cuya poes\u00eda contiene rasgos sociales basados en su experiencia en la guerra civil y los dif\u00edciles a\u00f1os posteriores.<\/span><\/p>\n

En Tierra sin nosotros describe mediante met\u00e1foras oto\u00f1ales el panorama de un pa\u00eds en ruinas. Alegr\u00eda contrasta con su anterior obra ya que a trav\u00e9s de una exaltaci\u00f3n vitalista proclama la necesidad de la esperanza, sin abandonar totalmente un cierto tono pesimista y amargo. Su obra abarca temas sociales y comprometidos con su realidad social. Tambi\u00e9n nos habla sobre el paso del tiempo y la fuerza de los recuerdos. Esta visi\u00f3n se convirti\u00f3 en escepticismo y padecimiento existencial en sus siguientes obras como por ejemplo Con las piedras, con el viento o Quinta del 42. En otros trabajos predominan composiciones de mayor calado social, si bien, a diferencia de sus coet\u00e1neos, nunca dej\u00f3 de preocuparse por las cuestiones formales, como puede observarse en Cuanto s\u00e9 de m\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Su larga carrera como escritor estuvo jalonada por numerosos premios y distinciones entre los que se destacan el Premio Nacional de Literatura 1953, Premio Nacional de la Cr\u00edtica 1957, Premio Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias en 1981, Premio Nacional de las Letras Espa\u00f1olas en 1990, Premio Reina Sof\u00eda 1995, y el Premio Cervantes de las Letras 1999. Fue Miembro de la Real Academia de la Lengua.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our author of the month is the great poet Jos\u00e9 Hierro (Madrid 1902-2002). Recently it\u00b4s been the tenth anniversary of his death and therefore we\u00b4d like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to him in the library.His work is intimist and socially committed at the same time. He is regarded as one of the most remarkable figures of Spanish Literature of the 20th century. When he was still very young, his family moved to Santander. His first verses were published in several media related to the Republican side and he was imprisoned for four years after the war due to his clandestine activities. These experiences marked his vital course and reflected in his poetry work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Hierro is part of the \u201cGeneraci\u00f3n del medio siglo\u201d. His poetry shows social features based on his experiences during the Spanish Civil War and the subsequent difficult years when he was imprisoned.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Tierra sin nosotros describes the outlook of a country in ruins through autumnal metaphors. Alegr\u00eda by contrast is a vitalist exaltation that expresses the need of hope but with a gloomy and bitter tone. His work covers social and politically issues linked with reality. He also tells us about how time goes and the strength of memories.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0This approach turs into scepticism and existential suffering in works such as Con las piedras, con el viento or Quinta del 42. He was always concerned about social issues but unlike his coetaneous, he never stopped working in style matters as we can see in Cuanto s\u00e9 de m\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n

His long career as a poet was distinguished with many awards as the National Award of Literature 1953, National Critics Award 1957, Prince of Asturias Award 1991, National Award of Spanish Arts 1990, Queen Sofia Award 1995, Cervantes Award 1999. He was member of the Royal Academy of Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n
