An outstanding scholar and a great friend of Spain, where he will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sir John leaves behind an extraordinary intellectual legacy and a plethora of disciples in the British Academia as well as in Spain and the whole world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We at Instituto Cervantes were honoured to have him opening the Tribuna del Hispanismo in 2017.
