Coxeter<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div>Among them, there was a copy of <em>Fragmentos de Apocalipsis<\/em> by Gonzalo Torrente Ballester, with an affectionate dedication saying:<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>\nA mi querida amiga Elenita, a la que amo hace alg\u00fan tiempo&#8230; Cuando nos conocimos a los 20 a\u00f1os. \u00bfVerdad?*<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gonzalo_Torrente_Ballester\"><strong>Gonzalo Torrente Ballester<\/strong> <\/a>visited the Spanish Institute in London, at least twice, notably for events in May 1983 and March 1990. <strong>Elena Coxeter<\/strong> carefully kept the program for both these conferences inside a copy of his book.<\/div>\n<div>This is our little homage to the two friends on the centenary of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gonzalo_Torrente_Ballester\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Gonzalo Torrente Ballester<\/strong>\u2019s <\/a>birth.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/institutocervanteslondon.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/programa1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-749\" src=\"http:\/\/institutocervanteslondon.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/programa1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/institutocervanteslondon.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/programa3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-750\" src=\"http:\/\/institutocervanteslondon.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/programa3.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">*To my darling friend Elenita, whom I have loved for quite some time \u2026 ever since we met when we were 20, true?<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share_save?linkurl=http%3A%2F%2Finstitutocervanteslondon.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F06%2F14%2Fgonzalo-torrente-ballester-en-su-centenario%2F&amp;linkname=Gonzalo%20Torrente%20Ballester%20en%20su%20centenario\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/static.addtoany.com\/buttons\/share_save_256_24.png\" alt=\"Share\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/institutocervanteslondon.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/06\/programa3.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About two years ago we, at the Cervantes Institute Library, received an anonymous call offering a donation of books in Spanish.
