Su sede en el South Bank londinense\u00a0acoger\u00e1 entre el 1 de agosto y el 5 de octubre <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/whatson.bfi.org.uk\/Online\/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=almodovar2016&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" target=\"_blank\">la proyecci\u00f3n de la filmograf\u00eda\u00a0\u00edntegra del director manchego Pedro Almod\u00f3var<\/a><\/strong>, quien a su vez ha seleccionado\u00a013 producciones espa\u00f1olas que han influido en su carrera y formar\u00e1n\u00a0parte del ciclo. En total, <strong>el p\u00fablico brit\u00e1nico tendr\u00e1 la oportunidad de asistir a\u00a0la proyecci\u00f3n de 32 pel\u00edculas espa\u00f1olas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A los t\u00edtulos m\u00e1s conocidos del director, entre ellos <em>Mujeres al borde de un\u00a0ataque de nervios<\/em>, que el a\u00f1o pasado se adapt\u00f3 como musical en el East End de la capital brit\u00e1nica; <em>Todo sobre mi madre<\/em>; <em>Volver<\/em>; <em>Qu\u00e9 he hecho yo para\u00a0merecer esto<\/em>; <em>Pepi, Lucy, Boom y otras chicas del mont\u00f3n<\/em>; <em>Matador<\/em> o <em>La ley\u00a0del deseo<\/em>, se sumar\u00e1 <strong><em>Julieta<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em><strong> su \u00faltima producci\u00f3n, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatson.bfi.org.uk\/Online\/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=julietaintro&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" target=\"_blank\">en un preestreno en el BFI Southbank el 11 de agosto<\/a>, que contar\u00e1 con la presencia de<\/strong><strong>l propio Almod\u00f3var. Pedro Almod\u00f3var asumir\u00e1 un papel activo en todo el ciclo y participar\u00e1 en una charla, el 12 de agosto,\u00a0en la que hablar\u00e1 sobre los aspectos m\u00e1s destacados de su trayectoria\u00a0profesional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>De forma paralela, el ciclo organizado por el BFI proyectar\u00e1 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfi.org.uk\/news-opinion\/news-bfi\/features\/pedro-almodovar-13-great-spanish-films-influenced-me\" target=\"_blank\">las 13 pel\u00edculas\u00a0espa\u00f1olas que el director manchego entiende que han influido en mayor medida\u00a0en su carrera<\/a><\/strong>. Ello permitir\u00e1 que el p\u00fablico brit\u00e1nico y los miles de turistas\u00a0que visiten la ciudad este verano disfruten de t\u00edtulos tan destacados como<em>\u00a0Calle Mayor<\/em> (dirigida por Juan Antonio Bardem en 1956), <em>El Cebo<\/em> (Ladislao\u00a0Wajda, 1958), <em>El Verdugo<\/em> (Luis Garc\u00eda Berlanga, 1963), <em>La t\u00eda Tula<\/em> (Miguel Picazo,\u00a01964), <em>El extra\u00f1o viaje<\/em> (Fernando Fern\u00e1n G\u00f3mez, 1964), <em>Peppermint\u00a0<\/em><em>Frappe<\/em> (Carlos Saura, 1967), <em>Furtivos<\/em> (Jos\u00e9 Luis Borau, 1975), <em>Arrebato<\/em> (Iv\u00e1n\u00a0Zulueta, 1979), <em>El Sur<\/em> (V\u00edctor Erice, 1983), <em>Jam\u00f3n Jam\u00f3n<\/em> (Bigas Luna, 1992),\u00a0<em>Tesis<\/em> (Alejandro Amen\u00e1bar, 1996), <em>Blancanieves<\/em> (Pablo Berger, 2012) o\u00a0<em>Magical Girl<\/em> (Carlos Vermut, 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s del propio Almod\u00f3var, entre las personalidades que participar\u00e1n en\u00a0las diferentes actividades que conforman esta retrospectiva figuran el compositor\u00a0Alberto Iglesias, el director Pablo Berger, el profesor de la Universidad\u00a0de Cambridge Brad Epps, el dise\u00f1ador urbano Marc Funda o la escritora\u00a0Mar\u00eda Delgado.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidiendo con el ciclo organizado por el BFI, la <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.somersethouse.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Somerset House<\/a><\/strong>, uno de\u00a0los emplazamientos m\u00e1s destacados del mundo cultural londinense, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somersethouse.org.uk\/film\/film4-summer-screen-2016\/julieta\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>servir\u00e1\u00a0de escenario el 10 de agosto<\/strong>, en el marco del programa de cine al aire libre\u00a0Film Summer Screen, <strong>al preestreno en el Reino Unido de <em>Julieta<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em>,<\/em> protagonizada\u00a0por Emma Su\u00e1rez, Adriana Ugarte y Rossy de Palma.<strong> El acto contar\u00e1\u00a0con la presencia del propio director.<\/strong> <strong>El estreno oficial en los cines del pa\u00eds se\u00a0producir\u00e1 el 26 de agosto.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De forma paralela, la cadena de salas <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.curzonblog.com\/almodovar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Curzon<\/a>,<\/strong> una de las m\u00e1s importantes\u00a0del Reino Unido dedicadas al cine de autor, ofrecer\u00e1 desde finales de julio\u00a0hasta finales de agosto<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.curzoncinemas.com\/almodovar\" target=\"_blank\">un ciclo dedicado a Pedro Almod\u00f3var<\/a> en el que cada\u00a0una de las pel\u00edculas contar\u00e1 con una introducci\u00f3n a cargo de un especialista<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El director espa\u00f1ol ha logrado cinco premios BAFTA, los galardones m\u00e1s importantes\u00a0del cine brit\u00e1nico, a lo largo de su carrera, y se ha convertido en\u00a0<strong>uno de los autores de habla no inglesa preferidos por el p\u00fablico<\/strong>. Suma,\u00a0asimismo, dos Oscar y siete Goya.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><em>Spanish cinema to become one of London&#8217;s summer focuses:\u00a0BFI Southbank to screen\u00a0filmmaker Pedro Almod\u00f3var&#8217;s films\u00a0and 13 other Spanish movies that have inspired him.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">The season\u00a0will include an extensive events programme.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfi.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">The British Film Institute (BFI)<\/a><\/strong>, the lead body for film in the UK, will launch this\u00a0summer, in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, an unprecedented initiative\u00a0in which Spanish cinema will become a major focus of its summer programme.\u00a0The BFI\u2019s 4-screen cinema <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/whatson.bfi.org.uk\/Online\/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=almodovar2016&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" target=\"_blank\">BFI Southbank will host screenings from\u00a01 August to 5 October of Pedro Almod\u00f3var&#8217;s complete filmography<\/a><\/strong>. Moreover,\u00a0Almod\u00f3var has personally selected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfi.org.uk\/news-opinion\/news-bfi\/features\/pedro-almodovar-13-great-spanish-films-influenced-me\" target=\"_blank\">13 Spanish movies which have inspired\u00a0him<\/a> and thus have been\u00a0included in the programme. <strong>Londoners and tourists will\u00a0have the opportunity to attend the screening of a total of 32 Spanish movies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Pedro Almod\u00f3var is one of contemporary cinema&#8217;s most unique and talented\u00a0filmmakers. He has won two Academy Awards, five BAFTA Awards and seven\u00a0Goya Awards. His work embraces melodrama, screwball comedy, noir and science fiction, all worked through with a magical imagination that has produced a\u00a0genre all of its own. <strong>The University of Oxford conferred him honorary degree\u00a0at the annual Encaenia ceremony on 22 June 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Together with this most popular Spanish filmmaker\u00b4s movies, including\u00a0<em>Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown<\/em> (1988), adapted as a musical\u00a0in the London East End last year; <em>All about My Mother<\/em> (1999); <em>Volver<\/em> (2006);\u00a0<em>What Have I Done to Deserve This?<\/em> (1984); <em>Pepi, Luci, Bom\u2026<\/em> (1980); <em>Matador<\/em>\u00a0(1986) and <em>Law of Desire<\/em> (1987);<a href=\"https:\/\/whatson.bfi.org.uk\/Online\/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=julietaintro&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> <em>Julieta,<\/em> his 20th feature film, will be released on 11 August and introduced by Almod\u00f3var himself<\/strong><\/a>,<strong> before screening on an extended run from\u00a0Friday 26 August, when it will be released in UK cinemas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pedro Almod\u00f3var himself will assume an active role in the events and will, on\u00a012 August, talk about his career, his love of cinema and the influences that\u00a0have shaped his unique cinematic language<\/strong>. Additionally, among the personalities\u00a0who will participate in this retrospective event are award-winning film\u00a0composer Alberto Iglesias, Spanish filmmaker Pablo Berger, Cambridge University\u00a0professor Brad Epps, urban designer Marc Funda and writer and curator\u00a0Mar\u00eda Delgado.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, <strong>BFI Southbank will screen 13 Spanish movies that have been\u00a0inspirational to Almod\u00f3var&#8217;s screen career<\/strong>.
