{"id":8147,"date":"2019-09-25T20:13:45","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T20:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/?p=8147"},"modified":"2019-09-26T13:15:13","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T13:15:13","slug":"london-translation-ruben-dario","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/2019\/09\/25\/london-translation-ruben-dario\/","title":{"rendered":"London celebrates the new translation of Rub\u00e9n Dar\u00edo\u2019s poetry by Hispanic Feinstein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1878-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1878-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1878-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The bilingual poetry recital, organized by Instituto Cervantes in London, was supported by the Embassy of Nicaragua and the presence of Spanish-American ambassadors<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instituto Cervantes in London organised a poetry reading of the work of Nicaraguan poet Rub\u00e9n Dar\u00edo by the renowned hispanist Adam Feinstein, in an event that was also the pre-launch for his new book,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cFound in Translation: New Versions of Rub\u00e9n Dar\u00edo\u201d.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The event was supported by the Embassy of Nicaragua.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8153\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1894-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1894-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1894-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The conference was attended by the Ambassador of Nicaragua in the United Kingdom, Guisell Morales Echaverry; the director of Instituto Cervantes in London, Ignacio Peyr\u00f3; actress Mar\u00eda Est\u00e9vez-Serrano, who recited Dar\u00edo&#8217;s verses in Spanish; as well as the ambassador of Cuba in the United Kingdom, Teresita de Jesus Vicente Sotolongo; and the Guatemalan ambassador to the United Kingdom, Acisclo Valladares Molina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Morales Echaverry thanked Feinstein&#8217;s work and effort to bring Dar\u00edo\u2019s work into the language of Shakespeare. Furthermore, the director of Instituto Cervantes in London highlighted Dar\u00edo as one of the most important poets of Spanish language. He also celebrated Feinstein\u2019s \u201cgreat\u201d work in \u201ctranslating his [Dario\u2019s] unique rhythm and language.\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8114\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1899-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1899-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.cervantes.es\/londres\/files\/2019\/09\/IMG_1899-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Along the same lines, Feinstein highlighted the importance of the Nicaraguan poet and read a selection of his poems\u2019 translations into English. His new work will be a bilingual edition of different works of poetry from all stages of Dar\u00edo&#8217;s life, which will be published in Nicaragua and the United Kingdom in early 2020. \u201cI was lucky to be in Nicaragua in February this year, and the influence of Rub\u00e9n Dar\u00edo is lived in all parts of the country, as well as throughout the Spanish-speaking world,\u201d said Feinstein.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Feinstein, born in Cambridge, published the acclaimed biography, \u201cPablo Neruda: A passion for life,\u201d that was published by Bloomsbury in 2004.
