Cosas que nunca te dije/Things I Never Told You

We would like to invite you to a cinema screening here at Instituto Cervantes this Thursday. A very special and what we could properly call a real film of love. One of those that are difficult to see nowdays at the movies.

A good and intelligent script with a wonderful interpretation by the two main characters Lili Taylor and  Andrew McCarthy. I would like to highlight on Tyler´s role as she is so convincing and moving.

Ann is a young woman who leads a quiet life selling photographic equipment in a Midwest town. She receives a call from her boyfriend who simply tells her he wants to end their relationship. Ann tries to commit suicide and when she leaves the hospital she has been treated, she will ring a telephone number she has been given, an Agony´s Aunt telephone, where she will find Don.

Don  is used to listen to other people´s problems in order to forget his own ones. Their lives will then cross, both looking for the same: Love, but there will be something missing, those things that are never told….

 Too good to be missed!

Thanks for your words, glad to know you enjoyed the film. Expect a rather different one next Thursday but equally good. It won several awards and had two Goya nominations. I think the films portrays quite good what are the relationships between memebers of a family. Irony, humour and some dramma well mixed.
      See you around

Thank you for showing the film tonight. It was well worth watching.
However, even though I know that the director is Spanish, and the film is highly acclaimed globally, I was rather disappointed that you weren’t showing a Spanish language film.

As a linguist, I always look forward to your film seasons and other cultural events, as they are a means of immersing oneself in the Spanish language and culture …just for a few hours.

Looking forward to next week’s film!

      Giulia,
I understand your objections, the film was done in English originally, so we tought is was worthy to screen
it like that, and that´s why the subtitles were in Spanish, when normally is the opposite way.
I am happy to know in any case that you enjoyed the film and really welcome you to the next one!

      Muchas gracias
      ¡Hasta el próximo jueves!

This is our aim, to bring to the audiences in the UK as much as we can from the culture in Spanish languague – wether is cinema, music, literatura or exhibitions- and of course from the whole Hispanic world.
Happy to know you liked the film and definately I encourage you to attend the next one on the 14th of this month.
      Thanks for your comments
      ¡Hasta la próxima vez!

Thanks for screeninf films like this. I watched it several years ago while in Madrid and loved it. Will be there tomorrow again 🙂

    • Anthony dice:

      Anthony,
Thanks for your comments and interest. Glad to know you liked the film, so did I. I feel is kinda special film and a sort of challenge for a Spanish director to film in the USA and with American actors. It got several awards in Spain at the time, such as best film, best director and also best actress.
You are very welcome to attend all the screeninngs we have programmed for the next 4 Thursdays here at I Cervantes.
      Regards. ¡hasta la vista!
      K
