El día 12 de diciembre y desde las 6 de la tarde, el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester organiza un día de puertas abiertas de cursos de baile. Habrá demostraciones de diferentes estilos como son el flamenco, el tango y la salsa. Todas las personas asistente podrán participar y disfrutar de estos ritmos guiados por un profesor.

No hace falta tener conocimientos previos, tan sólo ganas de aprender y disfrutar de estos estilos tan asociados al mundo cultural en español.

Acabaremos este día con un  gran concierto de salsa con el grupo cubano Cubavida que seguro hará que más de uno salga a bailar los ritmos caribeños y latinos.

El horario es el siguiente:

18.00 -18.35 Demostración de baile SALSA

18.40 – 19.15 Demostración de baile FLAMENCO

19.20 – 19.55 Demostración de baile TANGO

20.00 – 21.00 Concierto de salsa con CUBAVIDA

On the 12th of December  and from 6.00pm, The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester organices an open day with the dance courses. There will be tasters of flamenco, tango and salsa. Everybody atending will be able to join and enjoy these sort of dances lead by a specialist teacher.

There is no need of previous knowledge of dancing only the wish to learn an  enjoy these sort of dances so associated to the world in Spanish.

To end up the day we will do it with a Salsa concert by the group Cubavida, where surely more tan one will not be able to stop their feet and will be dancing to the Latin and Caribbean rythm.

Acabamos de terminar un taller de tapas que a todos nos ha dejado con ganas de bastante más. Durante 6 miércoles y de la mano de Silvia Morón de Gourmetapas Spanish Food, hemos podido disfrutar con los aromas, el gusto e incluso aprender peculiaridades regionales y variaciones sobre una misma tapa.

Condimentos, especias, hierbas y  otros buenos ingredientes además de la mano maestra de la chef, han hecho de este taller algo especial.

Las tapas tienen una gran tradición gastronómica  en la cultura española y  se sirven acompañando a las bebidas en los bares de todo el país; este taller nos ha enseñado a realizar de una forma sencilla tapas tan deliciosas como el salmorejo andaluz, el bacalao bilbaíno o la ya tradicional paella valenciana.

Os dejamos unas fotos con algunas de las tapas y momentos pasados en estos talleres donde los alumnos se convirtieron también en improvisados chefs.

Os animamos a que enviéis vuestras propias recetas, experiencias e incluso fotos sobre las tapas españolas que conozcáis.

We have just finished a tapas workshop of which we still have an appetite for. For 6 Wednesdays and guided by Spanish chef, Silvia Morón from Gourmetapas Spanish Food, we have been able to enjoy the aromas, taste and even have learnt the peculiarities and regional variations of a very same tapa.

Condiments, spices, herbs and other good quality ingredients on top of the good cooking hand of our chef, have made out of our workshop something enjoyable and special

Tapas have a long grastronomic tradition in Spanish culture and society and are served with the drinks in the bars all over Spain, This workshop has taught us to cook in a very easy way so delicious tapas such as salmorejo andaluz, bacalao bilbaíno or the traditional Paella from Valencia.

We would like to encourage you to give us your own recipies, experiences and even pics about the Spanish tapas that you know or you have cooked.

Hoy proyectamos la segunda película del ciclo de cine que hemos llamado Espacio Femenino. Tres días con la familia fue el debut cinematográfico de su directora Mar Coll y con la que ganó algunos premios; la película cuenta con unas imágenes realmente buenas y unos personajes bien desarrollados. En catalán con subtítulos en castellano.

Destacamos el trabajo de Nausicaa Bonnín y  Eduard Fernández, como actores principales. En su día ambos recibieron premios como mejor actor y actriz en el Festival de Málaga (2009).

Después de haber pasado algún tiempo en el extranjero, Léa debe regresar inmediatamente a Gerona, donde su abuelo paterno acaba de fallecer. La muerte del patriarca de la familia será la excusa para hacer que sus descendientes tengan que convivir unos días. Y es aquí donde saldrán prejuicios, actitudes y problemas que reflejan la vida real de los miembros de esta familia burguesa conservadora.

We are screening today the second film within the cinema season we have called Femenine Perspective. Three Days With The Family was the first film by Mar Coll and won her some awards. The film has got a very good visuals and characters well developed. In Catalan languague with subtitles in English.

We would like to highlight the interpretation of the main actors such as Nausicaa Bonnín and  Eduard Fernández, both of them won Best Actor and Best Actress at the Festival de Málaga (2009).

After spending some time abroad, Léa has to return to Gerona, where her paternal grandfather has just passed away. The death of the patriarch of the family will become the perfect excuse for his descendent to live together for some days.
And here it is where prejudices, attitudes and problems will sprout showing the real life of the members of this middle-class and conservative family.

Too good to be missed!! See you all around

¡Hola!

Este año hemos organizado por primera vez un taller de traducción literaria en el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester con un gran éxito, lo que nos ha llevado a programar un segundo también en esta ciudad y por primera vez en nuestro instituto de Leeds.

En 2014 vamos a programar más de estos talleres y cuyas fechas de comienzo anunciaremos  a través de nuestra página web. La persona encargada de los mismos será el traductor y profesor Rob Rix, y los temas tratados en éstos amplios, desde como traducir el sentido del humor o las metáforas hasta las aportaciones o sugerencias que vosotros queráis dar.

This year and for the first time, we have programmed a literary translation workshop in our I Cervantes in Manchester with a big success, so it led us to  programme a second one in this city, and also and for the first time in our branch in Leeds

In 2014, we are programming more of these and we will let you know the starting dates through our webpage . Professor and Translator Rob Rix will be the person leading these workshops and the sessions will go from how to translate sense of humor, metaphors to your own experiences and approaches.
