¡Ya es verano! Y como no podía ser de otra manera el Instituto Cervantes ya está preparado para ofrecer una buena dosis de ritmo latino. La Salsa es un baile cálido que mezcla influencias africanas y europeas, a través de sonidos y danzas que conforman sus raíces. Normalmente se baila en parejas, pero también de forma individual o como Rueda de Casino. Sin duda, un básico de todos los veranos.

Así que si estás pensando en ir de vacaciones a algún lugar soleado o simplemente quieres sorprender a alguien con nuevos y sensuales movimientos de baile ¡Apúntate a nuestro taller de salsa! Aprende desde los pasos básicos, ritmos, interpretación de la música, hasta la forma de llevar o dejarse llevar. Hay tres niveles y horarios distintos:

–Avanzado: Sábado, 12.00-14.00. Diez sesiones de 2 horas (£141)
–Intermedio: Sábado,  14.00-16.00. Diez sesiones de 2 horas (£141)
–Principiantes:Sábado,  16.00-17.00. Diez sesiones de 1 hora (£70)

Is Summer and Instituto Cervantes is ready to offer a great dosis of Latin Rhythm. Salsa dancing mixes African and European influences through the music and dance fusions that are the roots of Salsa. It is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms as Rueda de Casino. Definitely, a must all summers.

So, if you are thinking about spending the Holiday in a sunny place or if you just want to impress someone, enroll in our Salsa Workshop! Learn the basic steps, posture, timing and interpretation of music, partner dancing with leading/following freestyle. There are three different levels and times for this workshop series:

–Advanced: Saturday (12 to 2pm). Ten sessions of 2 hours (£141)
–Intermediate: Saturday (2 to 4pm). Ten sessions of 2 hours  (£141)
–Beginners: Saturday (4 to 5pm). Ten sessions of 1 hour (£70)

El Tango es un baile de origen argentino y uruguayo que se baila en pareja y que se ha extendido hasta ser uno de los bailes más globalizados del mundo. Sensual, apasionado e íntimo, se caracteriza por el abrazo estrecho de la pareja, la caminata tanguera, el corte y la quebrada, y la improvisación. Pero por sobre todo, el tango debe ser bailado con un lenguaje corporal a través del cual se transmiten las emociones a la pareja. Se dice que se baila “escuchando el cuerpo del otro”.

Este verano, el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester ofrece la oportunidad de aprender este baile tan sensual de la mano del bailarín Chris Shields. Aunque si prefieres bailar sol@, también cabe la posibilidad de aprender otros bailes latinos como la salsa o el flamenco. The Tango is a couple dance originated in Argentina and Uruguay that has become one of the most globalized dance in the world. Sensual, passionate and intimate, it is characterized by the close hug, the «tanguera walk», the cut and the «quebrada», and specially the improvisation. Few dances require such a level of complicity and rapport as the Tango, from there it is said that in order to tango, you need to listen to your partner’s body.

This summer, Instituto Cervantes in Manchester offers the opportunity to learn this hot dancing with the professional dancer Chris Shields. But if you prefer to dance alone, you can also learn dancing other latin dances such as Salsa or Flamenco. Come to Instituto cervantes the 2^nd of July and try a free class of each. Hola a todos/as,

El frío ya está aquí pero las Navidades pueden ser muy cálidas gracias a las nuevas sesiones de baile que ha lanzado el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester. El 30 de noviembre, bailaremos sevillanas; y el 5 y 7 de diciembre, bulerías. Además, organizamos un ciclo especial de Tango por Navidad, los días 1, 8 y 15 de diciembre.

Las sevillanas es un baile popular originario de la ciudad española de Sevilla, pero ampliamente conocido en toda Andalucía, así como en el resto de España. Influidas considerablemente por el Flamenco, las sevillanas se bailan en pareja y son muy populares en cada fiesta o feria andaluza.

La bulería, por su parte, es un estilo de flamenco de ritmo acelerado. A medio camino entre la fiesta y la burla, es una danza y género musical muy popular que cuenta con maestros como Camarón de la Isla y Paco de Lucía como máximos exponentes.

Por último, el tango proviene de Argentina y Uruguay, y se caracteriza por la complicidad que requiere su baile en pareja, pues se dice que para bailar tango es preciso escuchar el cuerpo de la pareja.

Cold is here but warm Christmas are possible thanks to the new dance sessions that Manchester’s Instituto Cervantes has organised. Thus, we’ll dance Sevillanas on the 30^th November; and Bulerias on the 5^th and 7^th December. Besides, we have scheduled a special Tango series for Christmas, on 1^st, 8^th and 15^th December.

Sevillanas is a cheerful type of music and dance originate in the Spanish town of Seville, although is commonly known and danced in Andalucia as well as all over Spain. Largely influenced by Flamenco, Sevillanas are danced by couples and they’re particularly popular in every celebration (fiesta o feria) in Andalucia.

Buleria or Bulerias, on the other hand, is a fast rhythm style of Flamenco. Somewhere between fiesta and mockery, it’s a very popular dance and music genre that has maestros such as Camarón de la Isla and Paco de Lucía as prime examples.

El día 12 de diciembre y desde las 6 de la tarde, el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester organiza un día de puertas abiertas de cursos de baile. Habrá demostraciones de diferentes estilos como son el flamenco, el tango y la salsa. Todas las personas asistente podrán participar y disfrutar de estos ritmos guiados por un profesor.

No hace falta tener conocimientos previos, tan sólo ganas de aprender y disfrutar de estos estilos tan asociados al mundo cultural en español.

Acabaremos este día con un  gran concierto de salsa con el grupo cubano Cubavida que seguro hará que más de uno salga a bailar los ritmos caribeños y latinos.

18.40 – 19.15 Demostración de baile FLAMENCO

19.20 – 19.55 Demostración de baile TANGO

20.00 – 21.00 Concierto de salsa con CUBAVIDA

On the 12th of December  and from 6.00pm, The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester organices an open day with the dance courses. There will be tasters of flamenco, tango and salsa. Everybody atending will be able to join and enjoy these sort of dances lead by a specialist teacher.

There is no need of previous knowledge of dancing only the wish to learn an  enjoy these sort of dances so associated to the world in Spanish.

To end up the day we will do it with a Salsa concert by the group Cubavida, where surely more tan one will not be able to stop their feet and will be dancing to the Latin and Caribbean rythm.
