¡Ya es verano! Y como no podía ser de otra manera el Instituto Cervantes ya está preparado para ofrecer una buena dosis de ritmo latino. La Salsa es un baile cálido que mezcla influencias africanas y europeas, a través de sonidos y danzas que conforman sus raíces. Normalmente se baila en parejas, pero también de forma individual o como Rueda de Casino. Sin duda, un básico de todos los veranos.

Así que si estás pensando en ir de vacaciones a algún lugar soleado o simplemente quieres sorprender a alguien con nuevos y sensuales movimientos de baile ¡Apúntate a nuestro taller de salsa! Aprende desde los pasos básicos, ritmos, interpretación de la música, hasta la forma de llevar o dejarse llevar. Hay tres niveles y horarios distintos:

–Avanzado: Sábado, 12.00-14.00. Diez sesiones de 2 horas (£141)
–Intermedio: Sábado,  14.00-16.00. Diez sesiones de 2 horas (£141)
–Principiantes:Sábado,  16.00-17.00. Diez sesiones de 1 hora (£70)

Is Summer and Instituto Cervantes is ready to offer a great dosis of Latin Rhythm. Salsa dancing mixes African and European influences through the music and dance fusions that are the roots of Salsa. It is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms as Rueda de Casino. Definitely, a must all summers.

So, if you are thinking about spending the Holiday in a sunny place or if you just want to impress someone, enroll in our Salsa Workshop! Learn the basic steps, posture, timing and interpretation of music, partner dancing with leading/following freestyle. There are three different levels and times for this workshop series:

–Advanced: Saturday (12 to 2pm). Ten sessions of 2 hours (£141)
–Intermediate: Saturday (2 to 4pm). Ten sessions of 2 hours  (£141)
–Beginners: Saturday (4 to 5pm). Ten sessions of 1 hour (£70)

Las Navidades están muy cerca y para celebrar su llegada, el Instituto Cervantes ha organizado un concierto muy especial el próximo 17 de diciembre, a cargo de los estudiantes de nuestro taller de Música Coral. Interpretarán algunas de las canciones del repertorio que llevan ensayando desde octubre, y habrá además varias sorpresas, ¡nos lo vamos a pasar genial!

El concierto será en el Salón de Actos del Instituto, de 19 a 20 horas, y la entrada es gratuita. ¡Ven a vernos!

Christmas are coming and in order to celebrate them, Instituto Cervantes has organised a very special concert for the next 17th December. The students of our Choral Music Workshops will perform some of the songs of the repertoire they’ve been rehearsing since October. Besides, there will be several surprises, we’ll have a great time!

The concert will be at our Great Hall, from 7 to 8pm, and it is free entry. La lluvia no sólo es señal de que el otoño ya está aquí, pues trae consigo uno de los filmes más aclamados del cine contemporáneo español: También la lluvia, de la directora Iciar Bollaín. El Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester proyectará esta película el próximo 2 de octubre, viernes, de 18:00 a 20:30 horas. El pase se enmarca en los talleres Tardes de Cine/Sesiones de estudio, donde se analizará la película, con especial enfásis en los temas, vocabulario y expresiones de la misma. Si te gusta el cine y/o estás aprendiendo español, esta es sin duda una cita ineludible.

Rain is not just a sign that tell us Autumn is already here, as it also brings us one of the most acclaimed films of the Spanish Contemporary Cinema: También La Lluvia (Even The Rain), by the Spanish director Iciar Bollain. Instituto Cervantes in Manchester will screen this film next Friday 2nd October. The screening belongs to the workshop series Evening Cinema/Study Sessions. The movie will be analyzed, paying special attention to its topics, vocabulary and expressions. So, if you like cinema and/or your learning Spanish, this workshop is a must for you then.

El invierno nos trae días cortos, fríos y con mucha lluvia y además parece que esta situación dura eternamente, dejándonos el ánimo algo bajo. Así que desde el Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester hemos decidido hacer algo para remediar esto, y os proponemos una serie de actividades que seguro harán más cálido y llevaderos estos meses.

Para aquellos que tengan una cierta inquietud a la hora de escribir,  os ofrecemos un taller de escritura donde realizar diferentes ejercicios de estilo,  expresar opiniones y aportar ideas sobre los trabajos elaborados en clase. (+)

Dentro del mundo de las palabras, otro taller girará en torno a los aspectos más interesantes y creativos de la traducción, donde con textos en inglés y español los participantes serán invitados a explorar sus propios recursos e intereses mediante la elaboración de diversos ejercicios. (+)

En un par de días os contaremos más remedios para el invierno, mientras, estaremos encantados de recibir los vuestros.

Winter brings sort, cold and rainy days making us feeling the Winter blues, so from Instituto Cervantes we have decided to do something about it and sort out the blues. We are proposing several activities that surely will warm up the British winter.

For those who have some kind of writing curiosity, we are pleased to offer you a creative writing workshop where different styles of exercises will be performed and participants will be able to express their views and give ideas about their works. (+)

Continuing in the world of words, there is another workshop which revolve around the most interesting and creative questions about translation. The participants will be encouraged to explore their own interests as translators practising with several exercises based on Spanish and English texts. (+)
