En ella, se hace patente que la realidad imita la ficci\u00f3n, y deja de manifiesto el ambiente miserable que rodea la figura del verdugo, quien no deja de ser otra v\u00edctima. Ambos largometrajes suponen una \u00e1cida mirada a la Espa\u00f1a franquista, donde la pena de muerte sigui\u00f3 vigente hasta 1974, a\u00f1o en que el r\u00e9gimen conden\u00f3 a garrote vil a su \u00faltimo preso: Salvador Puig Antich. Partiendo de estos dos ejemplos cinematogr\u00e1ficos, la mesa redonda pretende establecer, de igual modo, un paralelismo entre el verdugo espa\u00f1ol y americano, \u00e9ste \u00faltimo aun presente, as\u00ed como plantear algunas cuestiones sobre el sistema de justicia estadounidense.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">Referencing the\u00a0movie The Executioner by Luis\u00a0Garc\u00eda\u00a0Berlanga,\u00a0and the documentary\u00a0Dearest\u00a0Executioners by\u00a0Basilio\u00a0Mart\u00edn\u00a0Patino &#8211; banned by the Spanish\u00a0 Francoregime for years -, the \u00a0Instituto \u00a0Cervantes\u00a0 of New \u00a0York \u00a0intends to\u00a0 delve into\u00a0the psychology of \u00abexecuting sentences\u00bb, an euphemism\u00a0that, ironically, documentary-maker Patino uses in his film.\u00a0 In both movies,\u00a0it becomes clear that\u00a0 reality\u00a0 mimics \u00a0fiction,\u00a0 and reveals\u00a0 the\u00a0 miserable\u00a0 environment\u00a0 that surrounds\u00a0the figure of the\u00a0executioner, who\u00a0continues to\u00a0be another\u00a0victim of the system. Both films\u00a0are a\u00a0sour\u00a0look at\u00a0Franco&#8217;s Spain,\u00a0where\u00a0the death penalty\u00a0remained in force until\u00a01974.
