La Noche Europea de la Literatura,<\/strong> un proyecto de EUNIC Pa\u00edses Bajos<\/strong>, re\u00fane a autores c\u00e9lebres y otros talentos literarios de toda Europa. Es un espacio de exploraci\u00f3n, de comprensi\u00f3n de las diferencias y de reconocimiento de las similitudes, que pretende un replantamiento del concepto de \u00abeuropeidad\u00bb tanto por parte de los autores como del p\u00fablico. El tema de este a\u00f1o es \u00abLa literatura, el ant\u00eddoto\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nunca antes hab\u00edamos estado tan conectados y tan aislados al mismo tiempo. \u00bfC\u00f3mo ser\u00e1 nuestro mundo despu\u00e9s de la pandemia? Seg\u00fan Arundhati Roy, la Covid-19 \u00abes un portal, una v\u00eda de entrada entre un mundo y el siguiente\u00bb, que \u00abobliga a los humanos a romper con el pasado e imaginar su mundo\u00bb. \u00bfC\u00f3mo podemos imaginar este mundo? \u00bfQu\u00e9 puede predecir la literatura a partir de la experiencia de los \u00faltimos meses en Europa? Escuchemos a los escritores europeos de hoy, las antenas de nuestras sociedades. \u00bfPuede la literatura ser un ant\u00eddoto?. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

El escritor espa\u00f1ol invitado en esta ocasi\u00f3n es Juan G\u00f3mez B\u00e1rcena <\/strong>(Santander, 1984), licenciado en Teor\u00eda de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada, en Filosof\u00eda y en Historia. Es autor de la novela El cielo de Lima <\/em>(Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2014), editada en neerland\u00e9s por Wereldbibliotheek <\/strong>con el t\u00edtulo De hemel boven Lima. Su libro de relatos Los que duermen<\/em> (Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2012) fue considerada una de las mejores primera obras de 2012. Recibi\u00f3 el premio La Tormenta al mejor autor revelaci\u00f3n. Juan particip\u00f3 virtualmente en nuestro club de lectura el pasado mes de abril, con su reciente novela Kanada <\/em>(Sexto Piso, 2017), que ser\u00e1 publicada en breve en neerland\u00e9s por la misma editorial holandesa. Su \u00faltima novela se llama Ni siquiera los muertos<\/em> y ha sido editada este mismo a\u00f1o en Espa\u00f1a, tambi\u00e9n por la editorial Sexto Piso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este a\u00f1o La Noche de la Literatura Europea forma parte del Foro de Cultura Europea de De Balie<\/strong>, y se presenta tambi\u00e9n en relaci\u00f3n con el Estado de la Literatura Europea, una conferencia anual protagonizada este a\u00f1o por Philipp Blom<\/strong> y coorganizada con la Universidad de \u00c1msterdam<\/strong> (Facultad de Humanidades, ACES, con el apoyo de OSL).

De European Literature Night<\/strong>, een project van EUNIC Netherlands<\/strong>, brengt zowel gevierde auteurs als veelbelovend literair talent uit heel Europa samen. Het is een ruimte voor verkenning, voor het begrijpen van verschillen en het erkennen van overeenkomsten, en het opnieuw vormgeven van ‘Europeaan-zijn’ voor zowel auteurs als publiek. Het thema van dit jaar is ‘Literatuur, het tegengif’.

Nooit eerder waren we zo verbonden en tegelijkertijd zo ge\u00efsoleerd. Hoe ziet onze wereld eruit na de pandemie? Volgens Arundhati Roy is Covid-19 ‘een portaal, een poort tussen de ene wereld en de volgende’, die ‘mensen dwingt te breken met het verleden en zich hun wereld opnieuw voor te stellen’. Hoe kunnen we ons deze wereld voorstellen? Wat kan literatuur voorspellen op basis van de ervaringen van de afgelopen maanden in Europa? Laten we luisteren naar de Europese schrijvers van vandaag, de antennes van onze samenlevingen. Kan literatuur een tegengif zijn?
De uitgenodigde Spaanse schrijver bij deze gelegenheid is Juan G\u00f3mez B\u00e1rcena<\/strong> (Santander, 1984). Hij is afgestudeerd in de Literatuurwetenschap, Filosofie en Geschiedenis. Hij is de auteur van de roman El cielo de Lima <\/em>(Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2014), in het Nederlands uitgegeven door Wereldbibliotheek <\/strong>onder de titel De hemel boven Lima<\/em>. Zijn boek met korte verhalen Los que duermen (Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2012) werd beschouwd als een van de beste eerste werken van 2012. Hij ontving de La Tormenta<\/em>-prijs voor de meest opvallende nieuwe schrijver. Juan nam afgelopen april virtueel deel aan onze leesclub met zijn recente roman Kanada <\/em>(Sexto Piso, 2017), die binnenkort in het Nederlands zal verschijnen bij dezelfde Nederlandse uitgever. Zijn nieuwste roman Ni siquiera los muertos <\/em>kwam dit jaar in Spanje uir, ook bij uitgeverij Sexto Piso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De European Literature Night maakt dit jaar deel uit van het Forum on European Culture<\/strong> en gaat gepaard met de State of European Literature , een keynote die mede wordt georganiseerd door de UvA (Faculteit Geesteswetenschappen, ACES, ondersteund door OSL). Deze jaarlijkse lezing, dit jaar ingehuldigd door Philipp Blom , behandelt de staat van de literatuur in Europa en de staat van Europa vanuit literatuurperspectief.

De Literatuuravond vindt plaats <\/strong>in De Brakke Grond, op vrijdag 18 september van 21.00 – 23.00<\/strong> uur. Om fysiek de Literatuurnacht bij te wonen, kun je kaartjes kopen op de website van het Forum on European Culture , waar je ook biografie\u00ebn van de auteurs kunt vinden. Je kunt het evenement ook gratis via livestream bekijken. The European Literature Night<\/strong>, a EUNIC Netherlands project,<\/strong> brings together both celebrated authors and promising literary talents from all over Europe. It is a space for exploration, for understanding differences and recognizing similarities, reimagining \u2018Europeanness\u2019 for both authors and audiences. This year\u2019s theme is \u2018Literature, the Antidote\u2019.
Never before have we been so connected and so isolated at the same time. What will our world look like after the pandemic? According to Arundhati Roy, Covid-19 \u2018is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next\u2019, which \u2018forces humans to break with the past and to imagine their world anew.\u2019 How can we imagine this world? What can literature predict on the basis of the experience of the past months in Europe? Let\u2019s listen to the European writers of today, the antennae of our societies. Can literature be an antidote?

The Spanish writer invited on this occasion is Juan G\u00f3mez B\u00e1rcena<\/strong> (Santander, 1984), who holds degrees in Literary Theory and Compared Literature, in Philosophy and in History. He is the author of the novel El cielo de Lima (Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2014), published in Dutch by Wereldbibliotheek under the title De hemel boven Lima. His book of short stories Los que duermen (Salto de P\u00e1gina, 2012) was considered one of the best first works of 2012. He received the La Tormenta award to the most outstanding new writer. Juan participated virtually in our book club last April, with his recent novel Kanada <\/em>(Sexto Piso, 2017), which will be published shortly in Dutch by the same publisher in the Netherlands. His latest novel is called Not Even the Dead and has been published this year in Spain, also by the publisher Sexto Piso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Literature Night is this year part of the Forum on European Culture<\/strong>, and paired with the State of European Literature, a key note co-organized by UvA <\/strong>(Faculty of Humanities, ACES, supported by OSL). This annual lecture, this year inaugurated by Philipp Blom, will address the state of literature in Europe and the state of Europe through the perspective of literature.
The Literature Nnight will take place at De Brakke Grond, on Friday the 18th of September from 9.00 pm \u2013 11.00 pm<\/strong>. To attend the Literature Night physically, you can buy tickets on the website of the Forum on European Culture, where you can also find biographies of the authors. You can also watch the event through livestream for free.
