A debut performance of The Legend of Tarifa by Manchester-based writer Natasha Smith will take place this summer on 24 July at the Cervantes Institute on Deansgate.
Blending poetry, music, song and dance, The Legend of Tarifa is a tale of magic and mermaids and a young man’s quest for eternal love, inspired by the passion of Flamenco and Andalusia.
The Legend of Tarifa is written and produced by emerging writer, Natasha Smith, who’s currently studying for a masters under Jeanette Winterson, Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Manchester.
The original music score was composed by Gillian Menichino, who is doing a PhD in music at the Royal Northern College of Music. The dancers are from Manchester Dance School, the Danceworks.

A Latin American letter is a new and original composition by Chilean Artist Francisco Carrasco and presented by six exceptional artists who narrate a poignant and extraordinary story of the experience of leaving home. It takes inspiration from a personal letter and questions what might have been and expresses feelings of joy and sorrow. The powerful performances takes a musical journey told through songs, spoken word, multi-media, art, a range of reeds, strings, keyboards, drums and other percussion instruments, presenting a rich tapestry of the diverse rhythms and haunting melodies of Latin America.

The ensemble was formed in 2010 and have enjoyed a busy concert schedule, playing across Europe to critical acclaim.
