Catalan writer Laura Freixas will tell us what led her to choose her profession: “Under Franco’s dictatorship, the only kind of life that was interesting, especially for women, was that of the imagination and the only attractive female role models were those brought to life by women writers…”

Vetusta Morla es un sexteto de rock originado a finales de los ’90 que trata de ir más allá de los estereotipos del género. Primeramente en un sentido estético, añadiendo timbres y patrones rítmicos ajenos a la tradición del rock, integrándose en él sin pretender la fusión ni el mestizaje. Su intenso directo y unas letras que prefieren la sugerencia de imágenes al mensaje unívoco e invitan a la participación activa del oyente, son los otros dos anclajes artísticos de su música. Ambas características contribuyen a una sensación de pertenencia (totalmente real, por otro lado) que nace en quien les escucha.

Vetusta Morla is a Spanish rock band formed in the late 90s with the aim of going beyond the stereotypes of that genre. In their songs they incorporate sounds and rhythms akin to world music, while always maintaining a core of rock. Their live shows are powerful and intense. Their lyrics prefer subtle imagery to overt messages, which invite the listener to participate actively. These artistic cornerstones contribute to a feeling of belonging that grows among the followers of their music.
