El día 9 de agosto se celebra el Día Internacional de los Pueblos Indígenas, cuyo objetivo es reconocer las tradiciones, los idiomas y las costumbres de estas comunidades. Por este motivo hemos expuesto en la biblioteca algunos libros sobre literatura indígnea americana con el objetivo de contribuir a la promoción de su cultura.

August ninth has been celebrated as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples since 1994. The aim is to recognize the traditions, languages and customs of these communities. We presented a selection of works of literature in various languages as a way to promote the culture of these peoples.

La biblioteca Jorge Luis Borges visitó la reciente FIL de Buenos Aires (del 21 de abril al 9 de mayo) y se adquirieron nuevos títulos para la colección que ya están disponibles en nuestro catálogo, ¡ven a conocerlos!

The Jorge Luis Borges Library was present at the latest FIL in Buenos Aires (21 April to 9 May) and acquired new titles for the collection which are now cataloged and available. Check them out!

La biblioteca ICNY organizó recientemente una exposición dedicada a Miguel de Cervantes con motivo del cuarto centenario de su muerte. Para ello seleccionamos de nuestros fondos obras originales, adaptaciones, traducciones, crítica literaria y biografías. Si quieres seguir conociendo más sobre la obra de Cervantes, el próximo 21 de julio inauguraremos en nuestra galería la exposición Quijotes por el mundo.

The Instituto Cervantes Library recently presented an exhibit in honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes.  We prepared a selection of the original works, adaptations, translations, criticism and biographies.  If you would like to learn more about the life and works of Cervantes, on 21 July we will celebrate the opening of the  exhibit Quijotes por el mundo (Quijotes around the world) in our gallery.

Cervantes Visitado talk looks to highlight the points of overlap between author and protagonist to weigh Cervantes’s misfortunes against the Hidalgo’s misadventures.

Miguel de Cervantes es uno de los escritores que más investigación ha suscitado para desvelar quién era el autor y hasta qué punto está presente en su magistral obra del Quijote. Un sinfín de aproximaciones tratan de resaltar la desventura que persiguió al escritor, pero también la genialidad que le acompañó y permitió alumbrar su obra, más allá de la famosa novela. El ciclo Cervantes visitado pretende poner la atención sobre el autor a través de varias obras audiovisuales de ficción y documental para desvelar algunos de sus misterios, pero también para evidenciar la mirada contemporánea que el cine ha procurado dar a la importancia de su biografía.

On May 20th and 21st we celebrated the XXV Symposium on Children´s and Young Adult Literature with Ledicia Costas, Premio Nacional 2015.

We would like to thank the publishers Xerais and Anaya Infantil y Juvenil as well as the Concello de Pontevedra and the Pazo da Cultura de Pontevedra for their donations of the works of Ledicia Costas which are now available in the library.
