In this course, students will learn with Daniel García, a professional guitar player and instructor, how to play the instrument as well as learn about its history and repertoire. For beginners, the class will focus on learning simple guitar pieces through good sitting position, basic music theory and sight reading. For students with some experience, the class will focus on learning additional repertoire while developing good-finger technique.
Students must bring their own guitar. The course is taught in English.
Flamenco: Tuesdays 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. $350
In this course, Alfonso Cid, a professional flamenco singer, performer and teacher, will introduce students to flamenco, the passionate art form born in Andalusia from the crossbreeding of many cultures present in Spain all throughout history.
Students will learn about the history of flamenco and its development. They will be able to distinguish between the different styles; learn about the most influential artists of all time as well as vocal technique, basic music theory and even learn to sing.
No previous flamenco experience is needed, nor any knowledge of the Spanish language (although it is helpful). The course is given in English.
