El próximo viernes 15 de abril a partir de las 17:45h hablaremos sobre el concepto de “héroe” en la sociedad actual.

¿Quién crea al héroe? ¿Sobre qué principios se construyen los paradigmas de la existencia de hombres y mujeres ejemplo para nuestra sociedad? Los héroes son el producto del sueño de un mundo mejor, o ¿son tal vez creaciones irreales del imaginario social?

A lo largo de la historia han existido dos tipos de héroes, los convencionales y los rebeldes. Los convencionales son aquellos que están alineados en el bando del poder y trabajan en pos del mantenimiento del orden establecido. Los rebeldes, aquellos que luchan por romper las reglas del juego y acabar con las injusticias.

En esta nueva sesión del Club de conversación, debatiremos sobre el papel del héroe en la sociedad contemporánea, tratando de descubrir si estos personajes son realmente como los pintan o si no dejan de ser mitos imaginarios, creados por una sociedad en la necesidad de seguir soñando con un futuro mejor.

Trabajaremos sobre artículos de opinión entorno a las figuras de Lawrence de Arabia, Gandhi, Che Guevara y Emiliano Zapata.

This coming Friday 15 April from 5:45pm until 7pm, we will discuss the meaning of hero in contemporary society.

¿Who creates a hero? What are the principles upon which the male and female hero paradigms are built? Are heroes a product of the collective push for a better world, or are they unreal, a product of social imaginary?

Throughout history there have been two kinds of heroes: conventional heroes and rebel heroes. The former are those on the side of power, working to maintain the status quo. The latter are those who fight to break the rules of the game and end injustice.

In the upcoming session of our Conversation Club, we will discuss the role of heroes in contemporary society. We will try to ascertain if these characters are really the way that society portrays them, or they are but imaginary myths, created by a global community who need to keep dreaming of a better world.

In order to spark conversation, we will present articles around the life and works of Lawrence de Arabia, Gandhi, Che Guevara and Emiliano Zapata.
