El protagonista de hoy en nuestro ciclo de conferencias “El sabor de las palabras” es Jesús Ruiz Mantilla, quien nos deleitará con un recorrido muy personal por la historia de la literatura relacionada con la comida en “La gran bouffe literaria”. Si eres amante de la buena literatura y de la buena comida, no faltes a esta charla donde ambos placeres van de la mano.

Jesús Ruiz Mantilla (Santander, 1965) es periodista y escritor. Desde 1992 trabaja en El País, diario en el que actualmente forma parte de la redacción de El País Semanal, es columnista de la sección de Madrid y publica asiduamente en otras secciones como Cultura y Babelia, donde ha escrito durante años sobre música, cine y libros.

También es colaborador del programa de radio La ventana, y autor de cinco novelas publicadas hasta el momento, entre ellas Gordo, ganador del premio Sent Sovì de literatura gastronómica.

Antes de la conferencia, Jesús Ruiz Mantilla responderá a todas vuestras preguntas en una entrevista virtual, así que no dudéis en hacernos llegar cualquier pregunta que tengáis para él.

Today the  in our talk series “The taste of words” we welcome Jesús Ruiz Mantilla, who will delight us with a personal tour through the history of literature related with food in “The great literary bouffe”. If you love good literature as much as good food, don’t miss the talk, where  both pleasures go hand in hand.

Jesús Ruiz Mantilla (Santander, 1995) is a journalist and writer. He has worked at the Spanish newspaper El País since 1992. He is a member of the editorial team of the weekly magazine El País Semanal and a columnist in the Madrid section. He periodically writes in the culture section and in the weekly magazine Babelia where he has made contributions on music, cinema and books over the years. He also collaborates with the radio programme La Ventana, and is also author of five novels, Gordo among them, which got the prize Sent Sovì of gastronomic literature.

“The taste of words” is the title of the series of talks to be held during November and December with the aim to explore the close relationship between literature and gastronomy, the last becoming an inspiration source to many authors.

Main course

The 10th of November we have the opening of the exhibition “At the table! Design and food“, a reflection on the evolution of culinary trends in Spain…

Desserts

Desserts will bring us to the Café Literario, where the five films included in the series “Cinema and gastronomy” will display the world inside the kitchen on the big screen, making us laugh or cry.  

For all these reasons, the library invites you this month to take a view of Spain through the prism of its cuisine. Put on your apron and get close to our cuisine section. Let your palate get amazed with the richness and diversity of Spanish cuisine throughout its regions.
