Este año el East End Film Festival presenta un ejemplo de la nueva forma de entender el cine: «Dead slow ahead«, un documental premiado en el Locarno International Film Festival, un exponente del mejor y más experimental nuevo formato internacional, de dirección y producción españolas.

El próximo domingo 26 de junio y en colaboración con el Open City Documentary Festival, «Dead slow ahead» se emitirá en el Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo de Londres. Todavía quedan entradas – la organización recomienda reservar por adelantado.

This year, London’s East End Film Festival presents some innovative paths in filmmaking. An example: Dead Slow Ahead, a documentary turned horror science fiction, awarded at the Locarno International Film Festival.

Dead Slow Ahead is an edgy take on storytelling, directed and produced by Spanish professionals. This coming Sunday 26 June, in collaboration with Open City Documentary Festival, Dead Slow Ahead will screen at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

Interested? There are still  a few tickets available. Organizers recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

El Into Film Festival es un evento anual y gratuito, centrado en el cine y la educación y orientado a jóvenes de entre 5 y 19 años a lo largo y ancho del Reino Unido. El Instituto Cervantes de Londres acoge la proyección de algunos títulos en cada edición, seguidas por un taller lingüístico que gana adeptos año tras año. En esta ocasión, tenemos preparada una selección de trabajos maravillosos de cineastas hispanoparlantes, que dan enfoques inéditos a temas atractivos.

Into Film Festival is a free and annual celebration of film and education for 5-19 year olds across the UK. The Instituto Cervantes hosts the screening of a few titles each year, followed by a language workshop which is proving successful year after year. In 2015, we are in for a treat on behalf of Spanish-speaking cinema artists, who give appealing topics a new twist.

Hoy da comienzo el evento referencia del cine en el Reino Unido y uno de los festivales de cine más antiguos del mundo: el BFI London Film Festival, del Instituto Británico de Cine. Hasta el día 18 de octubre, presentará al público de Londres y del resto del país (un público más numeroso en cada edición) lo mejor de las últimas producciones cinematográficas británicas e internacionales. Con un programa intenso como pocos, que ofrece a directores y líderes de opinión eventos en cada ámbito de la industria cinematográfica, el BFI London Film Festival (LFF) posiciona Londres com la capital mundial de la creatividad.

Today is the first day of Britain’s leading film event and one of the world’s oldest film festivals: BFI London Film Festival, by the British Film Institute. From now and until 18 October, it will introduce the finest new British and international films to an expanding London and UK-wide audience. With this year’s industry programme stronger than ever, offering international filmmakers and leaders a programme of insightful events covering every area of the film industry, the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) positions London as the world’s leading creative city.

Instituto Cervantes supports the Spanish and Latin American films included in the general programme of the festival.

FLAMENCO can be enjoyed in London most nights of the week, and is probably Spain’s most successful cultural export.

Its popularity was shown once again this week when the Instituto Cervantes London was inundated with requests for places at a special preview screening of the film Spanish Steps: Flamenco in a Foreign Land.

This documentary pays homage to the pioneer flamencos who staged shows in London’s bars and restaurants from the 1950s onwards, paving the way for artists and aficionados alike to enjoy the thriving flamenco scene that is now so firmly established here.

These pioneers included both British amateurs and Spanish migrants escaping life under Franco, and many of the events were informal affairs, often in the basements of unglamorous Soho bars.

Nowadays flamenco is taken more seriously by London’s cultural establishment, with the annual festival at Sadler’s Wells and frequent events at other leading venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, as well as more informal concerts such as the monthly España on Fire at Ronnie’s Bar, upstairs at the famous Ronnie Scott’s. Then there’s restaurants including the well-known Costa Dorada in Hanway Street, the London Peña Flamenca . . .
