En febrero de 1938, el poeta sevillano Luis Cernuda llega a París tras dejar atrás un país que se desangra en una cruenta guerra civil. Enseguida, invitado a dar unas conferencias, pasa a Inglaterra. Comprometido con la causa republicana, ya nunca regresará a España. Luis Cernuda murió en México en 1963.

Con la participación de:

Antonio Rivero Taravillo (Melilla, 1963), escritor y traductor literario, que ha publicado libros de viaje, como Macedonia de rutas, los poemarios Farewell to poesy, El árbol de la vida y Lejos, y ensayos, el más reciente es Las líneas de otras manos. Ha vertido al español selecciones de poesía gaélica escocesa e irlandesa, así como de los primeros poetas norteamericanos. Ha traducido también la obra de poetas admirados por Luis Cernuda, como John Keats, Sir Alfred Tennyson, Gerard Manley Hopkins, William Shakespeare o William Butler Yeats. Sobre Cernuda ha publicado artículos en revistas de España y México y una monografía, Con otro acento – Divagaciones sobre el Cernuda «inglés», ganadora del Premio Archivo Hispalense de Literatura 2005. En 2008 aparece el primer tomo de la biografía Luis Cernuda – Años españoles (1902-1938) – XX Premio Comillas de Historia, Biografía y Memorias – y en 2011, Luis Cernuda – Años de exilio (1938- 1963). En él, Rivero Taravillo evoca las circunstancias en que surgieron poemarios como Desolación de la quimera, y retrata sin complacencias el susceptible carácter de su autor, las enemistades que éste le ganó y su vida austera y solitaria de exiliado, centrada en la creación poética y en la reflexión teórica, y marcada por una incurable nostalgia del Sur.

Y Martin Murphy, nacido en Reading, condado de Bershire en 1934. Licenciado por la Universidad de Cambridge. Profesor de Historia y miembro de la Royal Historical Society. Autor de Blanco White: Self-banished Spaniard (Yale University Press, 1989). Ha investigado sobre la historia de los exiliados españoles a los que Lord Faringdon dio asilo en su finca de Buscot Park (Eaton Hastings),  entre los que se encontraban Arturo Barea o el propio Luis Cernuda

Se trata de un congreso virtual a través de Internet. Su programación incluirá más de 50 horas de actividades interactivas dedicadas a la enseñanza del español y que conectarán a participantes y ponentes de cualquier parte del mundo.

Los objetivos principales del COMPROFES son los siguientes:

• destacar la labor de los profesores de lengua española;
• analizar los retos de los profesionales de la enseñanza de la lengua española; y
• divulgar los avances y promover la innovación e investigación en lingüística aplicada y en didáctica de la lengua.

This one day seminar is organised by Eurolis (http://eurolis.wordpress.com), the consortium of librarians of European Cultural Institutes in London and CILIP. The speakers will come from library services in the following European countries – UK, Germany, France, Portugal and Spain.
