Mañana, martes 26 de julio, tendrá lugar un evento literario muy especial de la mano de dos expertos en literatura irlandesa e hispanoamericana, Ciaran Cosgrove y David Vela. Nuestros invitados se centrarán principalmente en la influencia de James Joyce en la obra de Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Fuentes y Pablo Neruda, autores célebres que marcaron un antes y un después en la lengua española y que fusionaron distintos géneros literarios, tal y como hizo James Joyce, modelo fundamental para estos autores. 

Joyce’s Voices: The Legacy of James Joyce in Latin American Literature

Tomorrow, Tuesday 26th July, we will host a special literary event with two experts on Irish and Latin American Literature – David Vela and Ciaran Cosgrove. Our guests will focus on the influence of James Joyce most especially on Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Fuentes and Pablo Neruda, watershed authors who changed the Spanish language and, like their Irish model, fused literary genres.

El blog se despide hoy hasta el 1 de septiembre. No nos vamos de vacaciones. Simplemente, durante este mes y medio, nos dedicaremos a otras tareas. Fundamentalmente a preparar el nuevo curso, la nueva programación cultural y los nuevos títulos que van llegando a nuestra biblioteca.

Nuestro centro sigue abierto y los cursos de verano funcionan a buen ritmo. La exposición de fografías de Luis Ramón Marín continuará abierta hasta el 23 de septiembre. Y nuestra biblioteca, como siempre, continúa a vuestra disposición con el horario de verano.

Durante los quince días de julio que tenemos por delante solo publicaremos recordatorios de las actividades que tenemos programadas hasta final de este mes. También nuestros canales en la web social estarán más callados hasta el inicio de septiembre, pero seguiremos atentos a ellos, por si nos hacéis llegar algún mensaje por esas vías.

Today the blog bids you fond a farewell until the 1st September. However, we’re not going on holidays just yet. For the next month and a half, we’ll devote ourselves to other tasks. In particular, to preparing the next semester, the new cultural programme of events and the new titles arriving in the library.

The centre remains open, and the summer courses are nicely underway. The exhibition of photographs by Marín will continue until the 23rd September. And the library, as always, remains at your service under our summer opening hours.

For the next two weeks in July, we will only upload reminders of the activities programmed for the rest of the month. Our social networking channels will also be quieter until the beginning of September. However, we will be checking them, so feel free to send us any messages.

Carmen Sanjulián  charla con el escritor granadino sobre sus libros y sus poemas. También sobre Granada y sobre la felicidad, entre otras cosas. Luis García Montero nos visitó junto a Almudena Grandes el pasado mes de marzo.
