Los libros se van quedando en blanco…Parece ser que los escritores ya no escriben…Algunos dicen que las musas se han quedado dormidas. Niños y grandes si os gustan las aventuras venid a despertar a las musas, a buscar palabras y hacer malabares con ellas. Necesitamos vuestro ingenio.

We are looking for children and their clever parents to help us with a new mission.
Important: In the library of the Institute Cervantes words have been lost…. The pages of the books have become blank. It seems like writers write no more … Some say that the muses have fallen asleep. Children and grown-ups if you like challenges, come to wake-up the muses, to look for the missing words and to juggle with them. We need your talent !

Sleepy muses, lost words is an interactive story for children and grown-ups.

Come to the next Club de Conversación and practice your Spanish with Spanish speakers!

Open both to Instituto Cervantes students and to others who are studying Spanish in London and would like to improve their conversation skills. We will tackle different themes in each session, depending on the interests of participants. You will have the opportunity to speak Spanish with differ- ent native speakers specialized in language teaching who could solve any problems!

To celebrate the international Women’s day, the library of the Instituto Cervantes in London proposes watching a  documentary produced by the Department of Culture of the Government of the Aragon Region in Spain dedicated to Maria Moliner, author of the dictionary of the Spanish and librarian.

Estamos encantados de anunciar que el libro de Manuel Palacio «La televisión durante la transición española» , presentado ayer en nuestro Instituto, ya se encuentra disponible en la biblioteca.

Este libros busca interrelacionar el medio televisivo con la transición democrática, ese tiempo histórico en que se fragmenta la historia de España del siglo XX y cuya valoración, positiva o negativa, suscita apasionados debates. La finalidad más inmediata es preguntarse sobre el papel que desempeñó TVE en los procesos políticos, sociales y culturales que recorren el paso desde el régimen político dictatorial del franquismo a otro de libertades públicas (1974-1981).

We are delighted to announce that the new book  presented yesterday here, at our Institute, «La televisión durante la transición española»  By Manuel Palacio, it is already available in our library.
This book intends to link television medium with the democratic transition, a turning point in 20th Century Spanish history the assessment of which, whether positive or negative, raises passionate debate. The principal aim is to consider the role that TVE (the Spanish public television) played in the political, social and cultural processes that occurred from the time of the francoist dictatorship political regime to one of public freedom (1974-1981).

La historia

El cortometraje es un homenaje a todas las víctimas de la última Guerra Civil española (1936-1939),
las vivas y las muertas, de derecha y de izquierda. Un poeta bohemio  (José Sacristán), un campesino analfabeto e inofensivo encarnado (Paco Tous) y un joven soldado herido (Carlos Santos),
comparten sus últimos minutos de existencia antes de ser ‘paseados’.

This Valentine’s day We would love to share with you a very powerful  shortfilm by Arturo Ruiz Serrano “Paseo”, 2008 (Walk) about the Spanish Civil War where a LOVE poem (see below) by -the Uruguayan writer- Mario Benedetti is been  recited. We hope you’ll enjoy it !

The story

The shortfilm is a homage to all the Spanish Civil War (1036-1939) victims, the ones who died and the ones who are still alive; the right-wing ones and the left-wing ones. A bohemiam poet (José Sacristán), an illiterate and innocent  peasant (Paco Tous)  and a young wounded soldier (Carlos Santos), shared the last few minutes of their lives before «they» are  given them a «walk».
