El Instituto Cervantes ofrece cursos de español para estudiantes de todos los niveles, desde principiante absoluto hasta perfeccionamiento (A1 – C2 del MCER), cuyo objetivo es desarrollar la capacidad del alumno de comprender, hablar, leer y escribir en español.
Asimismo ofrece un amplio abanico de cursos específicos, como los cursos por Internet del Aula Virtual de Español (AVE Global), cursos de preparación del Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) y de los exámenes de GCSE, AS y A2, español orientado al mundo de los negocios, traducción, cursos de lengua y cultura (literatura, historia, América Latina), conversación, pronunciación, español para niños y cursos de formación de profesores ELE. Otros cursos fuera de programa y clases particulares y en empresas también están disponibles.
El nuevo calendario de cursos del trimestre de verano 2016 ya está disponible, y el plazo de matrícula abierto. Seguiremos añadiendo nuevas fechas a lo largo del mes de junio y julio, así que no dejes de consultarlo periódicamente.

Club de conversación: «Viajes y viajeros» / Conversation Club: Travels And Travellers
El próximo viernes 3 de junio a las 17h45 nuestro tema será “Viajes y viajeros”.
Son los viajeros esos seres ajenos y estrafalarios que encuentras en los caminos cerca de tu casa. Los viajeros no viajan en grupos, viajan solos y como mucho viajan a pares. No llevan uniformes (nunca), y si llevan uniforme no son viajeros que son guardias o funcionarios o husmeadores profesionales. Los viajeros hablan (generalmente) el lenguaje de los signos o hablan muy alto en extraños idiomas vocalizando muy bien para que les entendamos mejor. En su gran mayoría buscan algo, aunque a veces no saben lo que quieren. Los viajeros pueden hacer fotos, o no. Si hacen fotos nunca es hacia sí mismos, sino hacia fuera. Es decir, los viajeros no se hacen nunca selfies, porque no son ellos el objetivo sino lo que vive fuera de ellos y andan buscando por ahí. Pueden ir con mochila o ligeros de equipaje, cuanto menos equipaje llevan, más viajeros son. No tienen prisa por volver y podríamos decir que nos dejan la impresión de que vienen a quedarse, hasta que un día se van y por lo general lo hacen para no volver. Al principio te alegras de haberlos conocido, luego te da pena de que se hayan ido y al final te olvidas de que los conociste. En la memoria que se hace olvido te quedan unos posos de recuerdo como los de café, que se disuelven con las primera gotas de lluvia del otoño.

This coming Friday 3 June at 5:45 pm, we will talk about travels and travellers.
Travellers are those alien, eccentric beings you find on the roads around your home. Travellers do not travel in groups, they travel either on their own or in pairs. They never wear uniforms – those you see wearing uniforms are not travellers, but guards, civil servants or professional snoopers. Travellers (generally) communicate in either sign language or a very loud, odd language, enunciating every word clearly to make sure others understand. Most of them are looking for something, although they do not often know what it is they want. Travellers may take pictures. If they do, they never take selfies; their focus is out there and they keep on the lookout. They may carry a backpack or a light piece of luggage – the smaller the luggage, the more advanced the traveller. They are not in a hurry to return anywhere and one is easily led to believe they are here to stay, until a day comes when they leave, and they usually do for good. At first, you are happy to have met them. Later, you feel sorry that they left. Eventually, you forget you ever knew them. A vague remembrance lingers in the corner of your mind, until the first autumn rain washes it away.

Guitarrísimo – nueva entrega el jueves 9 de junio / Guitarrisimo – concert on 9 June
El ciclo de guitarra clásica de Londres, Guitarrísimo, celebra las raíces latinas de la guitarra -el instrumento nacional español por excelencia-, y en esta ocasión lo hace con un recital de Morgan Szymanski. Considerado el mejor guitarrista mexicano de su generación, Szymanski también es un apasionado embajador del repertorio de guitarra clásica de su patria. El próximo 9 de junio, traerá a nuestro auditorio (recientemente reformado) un recital en el que explorará las numerosas facetas del canon de la guitarra mexicana. IV Festival de Teatro Español de Londres / IV Festival of Spanish Theatre in London
El Festival de Teatro Español de Londres inició su andadura hace 4 años, con el objetivo de acercar compañías de teatro establecidas en España al Reino Unido. La edición de 2016 se celebrará del 8 al 19 de junio.
Todas las obras se hacen en español con sobretítulos en inglés, para ampliar el alcance del programa y hacer que lo pueda disfrutar un rango de público más amplio. El programa de 2016 incluye actuaciones maravillosas (pincha en cada póster para más información):
Paralelamente a las representaciones de obras de teatro, el festival acoge seminarios, conferencias, talleres y sesiones de preguntas y respuestas, en español e inglés, con la participación de los actores y directores involucrados en cada edición.
El IV Festival de Teatro Español en Londres da la bienvenida a todos los interesados en el teatro, la cultura y la lengua española.
The Festival of Spanish Theatre in London was launched four years ago with the aim of bringing well-established theatre companies from Spain to the UK. The 2016 edition is to take place 8 to 19 June.
The plays are presented in Spanish, with English surtitles during performances to reach a wider and more diverse audience. The programme for 2016 features some truly magnificent plays (click on the posters above for further information on each play)
Additionaly, there are parallel activities in Spanish and English, such as seminars, conferences, workshops and Q&A sessions with the actors and directors involved in each edition.
The Festival welcomes anyone with an interest in Spanish theatre, culture and language.
¿Por qué enseñas/quieres enseñar español? / Why Do You Teach/Want To Teach Spanish?
Todas las personas que han pasado por nuestro centro para formarse en enseñanza de español, o han sido profesores, o lo son actualmente, se han preguntado por qué enseñan español en algún momento de su vida. Muchos lo han hecho antes de comenzar a formarse, para decidirse por una vía de especialización u otra. Otros, en cambio, lo han hecho tras años de fructífera actividad y con la intención de descubrir si siguen en el camino que un día les pareció el adecuado.
Algunas de sus respuestas merecen ser compartidas:
P: ¿Por qué enseñas o quieres enseñar español?
R: Quiero enseñar/enseño español porque…
– Quiero conocer el mundo; esta es la profesión que me permitirá mudarme de país con frecuencia, siempre con facilidad para encontrar un trabajo en destino.
– Estudié derecho y no me gustó ser abogada. Ahora enseño español para fines legales y me encanta.
– Llevo 10 años cogiendo el teléfono en una oficina y quiero trabajar en algo en lo que pueda interactuar con la gente cara a cara.
– Necesito un horario de trabajo más flexible y siempre me ha gustado la enseñanza.
– Quiero ver el progreso de mi esfuerzo mes a mes, y sentirme valorado profesionalmente.
– Estoy cansado de tener un jefe. Quiero dedicarme a algo que me permita marcarme mis propios objetivos y horarios.
– Me siento orgullosa de mi cultura y país, y creo que enseñar idiomas es una manera de promover la multiculturalidad y el respeto por lo que es diferente.

Abrimos matrícula para todos los módulos de formación de profesores en junio:
enseñanza de español para adultos (módulo I GCSLTA) o para niños, recursos de gramática, certificados para preparadores y examinadores DELE y un taller para buscar trabajo y promocionarse profesionalmente en Inglaterra como profesor de español.
Everybody who have either trained to teach Spanish at Instituto Cervantes, or have been teachers, or are currently teaching, have wondered why they actually teach Spanish at some point in their lives. Some have done before taking up any training, in order to better ascertain which course to take. Others have asked themselves after years of fruitful activity, mostly with the intention of discovering if they are still treading what seemed the right path back in the days.
Some of their answers are worth sharing:
Q: Why do you (want to) teach Spanish?
A: I (want to) teach Spanish because …
– I want to travel the world; this profession will allow me to move countries frequently, never having o worry about not finding work at destination.
– I graduated in law, but later realised I did not enjoy being a solicitor. I currently teach Spanish for legal purposes and I absolutely love it.
– I have been answering the phone in an office for the past ten years, and I want a qualified job that allows for face to face interaction with others.
– I need a more flexible work schedule and I have always liked teaching.
– I want to be able to see the outcome of my effort every month, and I want to feel valued as a professional.
– I’m tired of having a boss. I want to set my own goals and decide my working hours.
– I am proud of my culture and roots, and I think teaching languages is a way to promote multiculturalism and respect towards everything outside one’s own comfort zone.

Deporte y negocio van de la mano, en ocasiones, de grandes escándalos que no hacen retroceder el avance imparable del deporte astro por excelencia.
Intelectuales, periodistas y economistas se posicionan a favor y en contra de este gran fenómeno social que mueve millones, ensalza héroes nacionales y que es a día de hoy una de las grandes pasiones de nuestra época.

On Friday 20 May we will focus our Conversation Club session on trying to ascertain if football is a sport or a business.
Detractors and defenders from all social backgrounds regularly feed one of the most lucrative contemporary businesses, and it is becoming increasingly hard to stay away from it.
Sport and business occasionally go hand in hand with great scandals, which do not hinder the growth of the king sport.
Intellectuals, journalists and economists take up stances for and against this social phenomenon that moves millions, praises national heroes and is one of the greatest passions of our era.
We will use various readings to further explore the unknown facets of the cultural manifestation that football is. Let the discussion begin!

Sans Frontiérès en “Les Trois Mousquetaires”. Combina su labor escénica con la pedagógica en
ambos países.

TRAINER
Lucía Mazarrasa Llosa graduated at the Superior Drama Institute in Madrid, and is currently taking further lessons at the École Philippe Gaulier in Paris. She has worked with numerous theatre ensembles in Spain and the UK. Here, she appeared in “Les Trois Mousquetaires” by theatre ensemble Thèâtre Sans Frontiérès. She continues to act and teach theatre in both countries.

El Instituto Cervantes de Londres busca a un jefe de prensa que cumpla el siguiente perfil:
- Cotizar como autónomo
- Ser un buen conocedor y estar implicado activamente, dentro de lo posible, con los medios de comunicación del país.
- Dominar el español y el inglés.
- Ser natural del Reino Unido. En casos excepcionales se considerará la candidatura de españoles residentes de manera legal y registrada en el Reino Unido.
Principales funciones:
– Mantenerse en contacto continuo con los medios de comunicación locales y nacionales. Debe tener una base de datos donde figuren estos, así como las corresponsalías de los medios españoles y los servicios de noticias autónomos.
– Establecer la estrategia de comunicación en conjunción con el director del centro. En función de las actividades a comunicar, también tendrá que coordinarse con el gestor cultural o el responsable del departamento Académico (en el caso de los DELE o CCSE, u otras convocatorias).
– Enviar los recortes de prensa a la sede central para su recogida en el Resumen de Prensa diario que se elabora en el departamento de Prensa.
Períodos de servicio:
Mayo-junio 2016 y del 15 de agosto al 15 de diciembre 2016. No es necesario acudir físicamente al centro para prestar el servicio.
Contraprestación económica:
En función de la dedicación finalmente acordada y de la disponibilidad, se dedicará a esta colaboración profesional un presupuesto total de hasta 5,000.00 GBP.

The Instituto Cervantes in London is looking to recruit a Head of Press who meets the following requirements:
- Self-employed, freelance professional
- Knowledgeable about and, where possible, actively involved in the country’s media.
- Proficient speaker of Spanish and English.
- Native UK citizen. Spanish candidates may be considered exceptionally only if they are legal residents in the United Kingdom.
Role specifications:
– Making and managing contact with local and national media. Owning and managing a database with local and national media, Spanish correspondent media and independent news agencies.
– Defining a communication strategy together with the Director of the centre. Depending on the focus of said strategy and its components (DELE or CCSE, or other announcements), liaising with the Head of Culture and Head of Academics.
– Submitting press clippings to the Instituto Cervantes Headquarters to have them included in the daily summary produced by their Press Office.
Duration of service:
May-June 2016 and 15 August to 15 December 2016. Service may be provided remotely.
Budget:
Depending on the commitment agreed and availability, the total budget for this service is up to GBP 5,000.00.
