Los adultos de cada generación suelen pensar que sus jóvenes hablan mal. Sin embargo, sabemos que el lenguaje de la juventud siempre ha sido un potente factor de renovación lingüística. ¿Cómo usan el idioma los jóvenes actuales? ¿Son realmente preocupantes los hábitos ortográficos de la informática y los teléfonos móviles? Si, por un lado, el inglés influye en el habla de la juventud española, ¿qué influencia ejerce el inglés americano sobre los usos lingüísticos de los jóvenes británicos?

Every generation of adults thinks their younger counterparts do not speak properly. We know, however, that young people’s speech is a powerful factor in linguistic renewal. How do the youth of today use language? Should we really be worried by the spelling habits encouraged by computers and mobile phones? If it’s true that English has an influence on the way young Spaniards speak, how does American English influence young British speakers?

Abierto tanto a estudiantes del Instituto Cervantes como a todas las personas que estudien español en Londres y que quieran mejorar sus destrezas de conversación. Se abordarán temas diferentes en cada sesión, según los intereses de los participantes.
Las sesiones: una vez al mes los viernes por la tarde, de 18:00h a 19:30h en el Instituto Cervantes de Londres.

Tarifas:
* Una sesión: £5 (+ £0,50 costes gestión administrativa)
* Tres sesiones + Carné de la biblioteca durante tres meses: £11
* Todo el año (9 sesiones) + Carné de la biblioteca durante 1 año: £35

Open both to Instituto Cervantes students and to others who are studying Spanish in London and would like to improve their conversation skills. We will tackle different themes in each session, depending on the interests of participants.
The sessions will be once a month on Friday evening, from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Instituto Cervantes Londres.

Fees:
* One session: £5 (+ 50p administraion fee)
* Three sessions + three month library card: £11
* Whole year (9 sessions) + One-year library card: £35

Nos complace comunicar que  la biblioteca del Instituto Cervantes en Londres abre sus puertas el 25 de septiembre en un nuevo espacio  más amplio y luminoso, con más puestos de trabajo, acceso a más de 10,000 volúmenes  y secciones claramente diferenciadas: el rincón de los niños, el centro de recursos para el aprendizaje del español,  la sección para audiovisuales, las novelas, libros de historia, literatura, etc.

Además a partir de ahora contamos con acceso Wi-Fi para quienes  quieran usar sus portátiles;  un ordenador para la consulta del catálogo en línea (OPAC)  con información sobre los 33,000 documentos que tiene la biblioteca y dos tabletas con Internet para que los usuarios  puedan hacer consultas sobre temas de referencia,  de investigación o simplemente  por entretenimiento.

Os invitamos a que vengáis a explorar la nueva biblioteca, a hojear en nuestras estanterías, a buscar en  nuestro catálogo en línea y a disfrutar de todos los materiales y recursos en línea que disponemos, incluyendo los e-books, audiolibros y el acceso a  bases de datos de contenido multidisciplinar.

Great News!

We are delighted to announce that the library at The Cervantes Institute will open its doors on September 25^th in a new bigger and brighter space. You will have more work stations, access to more than 10,000 items and clearly differentiated sections: a children’s corner, a resource centre for learning Spanish, and sections for DVDs, CDs, novels, history books, literature etc.

In addition, from now on, those who want to bring their laptops will have access to WI-FI; there will be a computer connected to our online catalogue (OPAC) with information about the 33,000 documents that the library has and two TABLETS with internet where users can look for information about specific topics, do research or use simply for entertainment.

We invite you to come and explore our new Library, browse through our shelves, search through our online catalogue and enjoy all the materials and online resources that we have to offer, including e-books, audio-books and multi-disciplinary content databases.

Ellas, Filipinas documenta la diáspora filipina en la ciudad de Hong Kong, Más de 150.000 mujeres trabajan en el servicio doméstico. Cada domingo, su único día libre, ocupan el centro financiero de Hong Kong, transformando el uso de los espacios públicos en espacios domésticos. Ellas, Filipinas forma parte de la exposición Female, open space invaders.

Ellas, Filipinas documents the Filipino diaspora in Hong Kong, where more than 150,000 women live and work as domestic helpers. Every Sunday, their only day off, they gather in the financial district of the city, transforming the public areas into their own domestic spaces. Ellas, Filipinas is part of the Female, open space invaders exhibition. It was filmed in Hong Kong, and in the Philippines.
