Recuerde que los requisitos son tener dominio de español y tener vigente el carné de biblioteca.

We would like to invite you to join the Instituto Cervantes Virtual Reading Club.

The aim of this service is to enable you to share your views on a given Spanish or Latin American Literature title with members of Instituto Cervantes libraries across the world,  via an Internet reading platform. It works in a similar way to social media networks.

Requirements to join are to be fluent in Spanish and to have a valid Instituto Cervantes Library card. Next reading will be on the following book:

El 23 de abril es la fecha que la UNESCO, a propuesta de la Federación del Gremio de Editores de España, estableció como “Día Mundial del Libro y del Derecho de Autor” por coincidir con el aniversario de la muerte, en 1616, de Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare y el Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. En España la celebración del Día del Libro es una tradición y una fiesta de la Cultura en la que tiene lugar la entrega anual del Premio Cervantes.

Launched in 1995 to promote reading, publishing and copyright, World Book and Copyright Day will, once again, take place on 23 April. With the help of the Federation of Publishers’ Guild of Spain, UNESCO established this day to coincide with the anniversary of the deaths of Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. In Spain, celebrating World Book Day has become a tradition, and this year’s celebration will see the beloved annual presentation of the Miguel de Cervantes prize.

La exposición presenta un compendio de piezas realizadas a lo largo de los últimos años junto a producciones más recientes, sintetizando el lenguaje artístico que ha marcado la práctica de Maria José Argenzio desde sus inicios. De esta manera en Copy/Paste – Recodificando el gesto se abordan temas como el exotismo y sus diversas connotaciones, la absurdidad del gesto, la codificación económica y política de la sociedad Ecuatoriana y la apropiación de iconos para poner en tela de juicio conceptos como la identidad y el legado histórico. Esta muestra individual abre deliberadamente una variedad de interpretaciones y reúne las obras en su profunda coherencia así como invita a sus ramificaciones desde una perspectiva poética y sutil.

The exhibition presents a selection of works realised in the last years along with her most recent production synthesising a series of concerns that have permeated the artist’s practice since her beginnings: the exotism and its multilayered connotations, the absurdity of the gesture, the economic and political codification of the Ecuadorian society and the appropriation of icons to question concepts such as identity and historical legacy. The individual show deliberately opens  an assortment of interpretations that brings the works in their deep coherence and ramifications from a poetical and subtle angle.

Hay-on-Way Festival 2012 Alejandro Zambra
Alejandro Zambra (Santiago de Chile, 1975) ha publicado libros de poesía, ensayo y novelas, ampliamente traducidas; al mismo tiempo, es colaborador asiduo, escribiendo sobre literatura, en diversos medios de prensa de chilenos y en “Babelia”, suplemento cultural de El País. Actualmente es profesor de literatura de la Universidad Diego Portales. Bonsái fue galardonada con el Premio de la Crítica como la mejor novela chilena de 2006 y convertida en película con el mismo título por Cristián Giménez, estrenada en Cannes en la selección A certain regard. Alejandro Zambra fue además seleccionado entre los mejores narradores jóvenes en español por la revista Granta.

Hay-on-Way Festival 2012 Alejandro Zambra
Alejandro Zambra was born in Santiago de Chile in 1975. His has published a number poetry books, essays and novels, most of his works have been translated to other languages. He contributes with various Chilean and Spanish publications (“Babelia” from El País newspaper). At present, He teaches Literature at University of Diego Portales (Chile). Alejandro Zambra was chosen  as one the best young authors in Spanish language by Granta magazine.

Easter in the beach house of a Chilean well-to-do and nowadays family. A self-centered and successful father, a disoriented mother and a son overshadowed by his successful father. The three of them, wait for the arrival of the son’s first official girlfriend; a disturbing and rebellious young lady who will invade the house with her powerful sexual load and other «gifts», breaking loose an emotional cataclysm with no stepping back.

Este ciclo de cine incluye producciones latinoamericanas cuyo vínculo con la industria y el público español ejemplifica la estrecha relación existente entre ambas culturas cinematográficas. Las coproducciones con directores latinoamericanos asentados en España, los documentales que abordan la perspectiva española sobre América Latina son, sin duda, ejemplos de siglos de convivencia que el cine vive de manera permeable y evidencia en sus debates e inquietudes de producción.

This cinema season includes Latin American films whose link to the industry and people of Spain tackles the enduring relationship between the two in cinematic culture. The co-productions with Latin American directors working in Spain, the documentaries that tackle the Spanish perspective on Latin America are, without doubt, examples of the centuries of coexistence so clearly portrayed in film and illustrated through the debates and anxieties of the production process.

Rubén Szuchmacher is one of Argentina’s most influential and controversial directors, a celebrated defender of the theatre’s freedom from the state. His work combines the richness of Shakespeare’s texts with a simple theatrical aesthetic. This approach has won him great acclaim as one of the respected experts in staging Shakespeare in South America.
